She fainted in my arms, lying naked appearing to have cried a lot out of fear. Her unimaginable terror still lingered on my skin, a sensation I had felt earlier through our mate bond. How could she be so scared of him? And why? I stared at her closed eyes and gently touched her soft cheek with my bl oody hand.
I sensed another man’s touch on her, even though I couldn’t detect even the slight trace of his scent or aura on her. Glancing at her arm where she tightly clutched our unconscious children, her body shaking and cold, I clenched my fists at my side barely holding Dex back.
“Reuben…” the Alpha King, who witnessed everything, called me, his voice full of surprised disbelief. “What the hell did you just do? You wasted your divine energy on this woman…”
I quietly wrapped Willow in my coat, threw her over my shoulder, and grabbed the children with my other arm before standing up and turning to peer over at the King. “She is not just any woman, She is my soulmate. She is mine, so when faced with a choice between her and using my power, saving my divine energy holds no value to
me.”
“What the hell are you saying?” he gasped. “Have you lost your f ucking mind?!”
“I haven’t lost it, I was born this way,” I replied, shifting my gaze to the wall then back to uncle. “And to answer your question, I will never give up on my mate. I understand that you want to protect your Kingdom and throne, and I get it. Be that as it may, I don’t want anyone interrupting my or my mate’s life when I am not getting in anyone else’s way. From this moment on, anyone that tries to hurt my mate, will instantly become my enemy. No matter who they may be…” I declared, turned around, and left with my mate and children.
The King watched my vanishing figure with wide eyes. “That boy has gone insane. He doesn’t fear death. If that girl died or was taken away by that evil chasing after her, then I don’t know what he would do… Louis,” he stated, turning his attention to the wall. Behind the wall, a figure sat smoking the entire time.
I
“Tell me something I don’t know,” Alpha Louis put out the cigarette and closed his eyes. “I wish I could go back in time…”
Without caring about traffic laws or anything else for that matter, I drove at full speed from the palace to the

Emerald Bright Pack. The brakes were close to failure, but I couldn’t afford to slow down. My eyes continuously darted to Willow, who was shaking and behaving strangely in a way I had never seen before. Meanwhile, Wyatt and Lori were scarily motionless, as if they were…
“F uck!!” I slammed my fist into the steering wheel, angry at myself. If I had not left for the palace then all of this would not have happened. If I was with Willow, that f ucker would not have…
As soon as my car entered the parking lot, Oran and Bix, who were waiting for my arrival, sprang into action. The moment I stopped the car, they opened the back doors on either side and swiftly pulled Wyatt and Lori into their
arms.
“We are taking children to the hospital,” they said over their shoulders’ having already turned towards the hospital.
I quickly opened the passenger door and pulled out the extremely cold body of Willow as she continued shivering in my arms all the way to the hospital where doctors were already waiting for me.
“Quickly check her!” I ordered, placing Willow on a hospital bed.
The senior doctor glanced at Willow, panic crossed his eyes, “Quickly prepare to stabilize her condition!” he ordered as everyone sca ttered to complete their assigned tasks. I watched everything in panic.
Everything had grown abnormal about her. Her whole body was drenched in sweat and she clenched the mattress scratching it with her long claws. Ceri seemed to have lost complete control, not even Dex could make any connection with her. My heart shook at the sight of her, “What’s happening to her?” I demanded walking closer to the doctor.
“Alpha, please, I request your cooperation and that you trust in us. PLease, leave the Luna in our care,” he pleaded as he hurried to attend to Willow. I caught one last glimpse of Willow through the gap in the door before it closed in front of me.
Dex had already lost his composure at the sight of Willow’s condition when we brought her back to the palace. With the door closed, I couldn’t hear or see her, which only added to my agitation. The thought of breaking down the door and holding Willow safely in my arms consumed my mind. She was surrounded by strangers. What if she got scared? I should be there with her. I raised my hand, ready to punch the door until it broke, but I stopped myself. Instead I punched the wall next to the door a few times to release my pent-up anger.
I could not f ucking loose my mind when I had to take care of children too. My children…They were alone…

I turned on my heel and rushed to check on Wyatt and Lori in the children’s ward.

Oran and Bix were standing next to their beds as doctors checked on my children. “How are my children?” | questioned the doctors as I hurried over to their beds. Their body temperature seemed normal, but their eyes were still closed.
The doctors quickly rushed to my side and informed me, “Everything is normal, Alpha. They are breathing, their heartbeat, and brain activity is all normal. They seem to have fainted due to some kind of shock.”
“Shock?” I gazed down at the innocent faces of my children, feeling a surge of protectiveness. The thought of their innocent minds facing a shock that extreme at such a young age boiled my blood. “When will they wake up?” I questioned, holding both of their small hands.
“The shock seems to have been quite intense. It may take several hours or even a day for them to wake up. The positive is that they will wake up. We will continue to monitor their condition, Alpha,” he explained before excusing himself.
I gently caressed Wyatt and Lori’s heads, whispering, “Don’t be scared of anything. Daddy is here,” I tenderly kissed their foreheads. Their steady breathing and beautiful heartbeats reminded me of the day 6 years ago. when I first felt a connection with the both of them while they were growing inside Willow.
A while later, two doctors entered the room to monitor the children’s conditions. They had been keeping a close eye on them. I had to leave the room and Oran and Bix followed me out. Only we encountered Walter waiting outside, who had been waiting for us the whole time, leaning against the wall and smoking.
I simply ignored him, intending to walk past him, but he spoke up before 1 had the chance. “Earlier, I spotted blood and deep scratches on Willow’s thighs and arms. Is she…” He paused, his gaze studying every change in my expression. “Is she…” he could not utter that word no matter how hard he tried.
He closed his eyes momentarily, crushing the cigarette in his palm, before continuing, “I looked into the pack that was burnt down 11 or 12 years ago, like you had asked.”
I turned to face him as he handed me a diary. “As I mentioned, my father’s friend died long ago, and the pack’s name was buried with him. However, while going through his belongings, I found this diary. He had a habit of writing diaries,” he explained.
“Do you mean we’ll find something related to that pack in this diary?” Bix questioned.
“It’s almost completely burnt,” Oran pointed out.

“True, but I found a half-burnt page and found something of high importance,” Walter replied, opening the diary and pointing at a few lines that were still intact. “He mentioned the name of the man who was behind that mysterious fire.”
I glanced down at the half-burnt page and ran my finger over it to wipe the blackness off of the letters. Four letters came into view, “Dark…”
Finally the shadow I saw in footage and the third person’s presence I felt between Willow and I had a name. The name that Willow had told me.
Reading that name, I clutched the diary tightly in my hand. “Dark…” I grumbled under my breath, my blood. boiling in rage. His shadow once again came to mind. Digging my claws into the torn diary, I ripped off the page where his name was written. Dropping it on the ground and crushing it under my foot, just as I took my first step to leave Willow’s scream entered my ears.
“Is that Willow? Why is she screaming?” Oran asked as he looked at me.
My muscles tightened sensing her unimaginable terror. I immediately raced down the corridor towards the ward Willow was staying in then stormed into the room at lightning speed only to find her pinned to the bed by three doctors.
“WHAT THE F UCK YOU ARE DOING?!” I roared, charging at them. “LET HER GOI” All of them dropped Willow’s arms and legs, flinching away in horror at the sight of me casting bloodthirsty glares at them.
“Alpha… she… she is…” one of the doctors, who had received a particularly deep and severe set of claw marks to one side of the face, stammered. It wasn’t just him either, the other doctors were just as badly injured. I slowly turned my attention to Willow who was no longer on the bed but curled into a ball in the corner of the room, her claws dripping blood.
“Everyone get out,” I ordered. Everyone fled from the room at lightning speed. As the door closed, I walked closer to Willow.
“Don’t…don’t come…” she stared at me with large fearful eyes..
“Willow, it’s me,” I said quietly, inching closer to her. “It’s me, Reuben.”
“NOI DON’T COME ANY CLOSER!” she shook her head, curling further into herself in the corner, “GO AWAY!”
“Willow! Look at me!” I could not bear for her to be scared of me. The look in her eyes was enough for me to

understand that she was unable to recognize me or something. “I will not harm you,” I stretched my hand out for her to grab. “Come here… come to me…” I softly touched her arm.
“DON’T TOUCH ME!!” Screaming like crazy, she viciously attacked my arm with her long claws then ran away.
Hissing, I turned around and grabbed her waist from behind.
“AHHHHH…. DON’T TOUCH ME! DON’T TOUCH ME!!!” she screamed at the top of her lungs, struggling to break free from my grasp. It was the first time that I had a hard time handling her. I turned her to face me and kept a tight hold on her body.
“Willow, calm down. It’s me,” I assure her but she kept shaking her head as she continued to riddle my chest with wounds from her claws. I put one hand on her back and caressed her, “Willow… it’s okay. It’s okay…”
“NO!! Let me go,” she hurt my shoulder this time. “DON’T TOUCH ME. DON’T…” struggling to break free from my hold, she cried her eyes out until they were red, and she screamed to the point where I was afraid that she would lose her voice.
“STOP!” I yelled, grabbing both of her arms as I looked into her eyes with my wolf’s. She froze in place, her teary eyes wide and fearful. Taking in her condition, my heart softened as I touched her cheek, “Willow, look at me. It’s me Reuben,” I wiped her tears and looked deeper into her eyes lovingly, “Your Reuben…” I whispered.
She bit her lip and looked up at me with teary eyes, “Don’t touch me…” she whispered, shaking like a dry leaf. “You scare me.”
“What?” My heart dropped into my stomach as I stared at her in shock. “Willow, you are not scared of me. Look at me carefully, it’s me Reuben,” I cupped her cheeks with both hands.
“But I am no longer able to recognize you,” a fresh tear rolled down to her cheek. “I have forgotten your eyes, your smile, and your face,” she stated, her voice shaking.
“Willow… what are you saying?” my eyes widened.
“All I can see is his mismatched eyes, evil smile, and his face,” she confessed.
Hearing the impossible statement that had just come out of her mouth I stared at her with wide eyes. She… she was unable to…
Suddenly she took a step away from me. “Willow…” I panicked, trying to reach out for her.

As she said that, I froze in place, staring at her nails dangerously close to her neck. Her tears continued to wet her eyes as she looked at me fearfully but also with guilt.
I stared at her, watching as she lost herself while my own eyes grew damp. With a large step, I drew closer to her, pushed her hand away from her neck, twisting it behind her back, and pulled her into a hug.
She once again started to scream but I hugged her tighter and whispered into her ear. “It’s okay if you forgot me, Willow. It’s okay, if you don’t want me to touch you. It’s okay, if you want me to disappear. But…” I paused and buried my face in her hair, “Never forget… There is someone who will love you even when you have forgotten him. There is someone who is always waiting for you even if he can not touch you. There is always someone who is willing to disappear… if it is the only way to have you…”
