Chapter 89 Claiming It Is Not Love But Hate Despite The Intimacy
When Maverick arrived, he found that he was alone with Mirabelle. The moment Mirabelle saw him, she became flustered and seemed eager to leave, as if she was uncomfortable being alone with him in the same space.
Provoked, Maverick grabbed Mirabelle’s arm as she passed by, his voice cold as he challenged her. “What are you avoiding? Aren’t you here for the rehearsal?”
“I–I–I think it’s inappropriate for us to be alone together right now. I have a boyfriend, and don’t you have a fiancée?” Mirabelle lowered her gaze, trying to resist, but her eyes turned red uncontrollably.
No matter how you looked at it, it was clear she was forcefully suppressing her inner sorrow.
A wave of emotion surged within Maverick, as if he was struggling to catch his breath.
“You’re right,” Maverick firmly stated, “I do have a fiancée, whom I deeply love. She’s been by my side for many years, a woman full of affection and loyalty. After this show, we’re going to get married. So don’t be so presumptuous. Do you really think something would happen between us just because we’re alone?”
Instantly, a shiver ran through Mirabelle, leaving her silent.
“The condition for your supporting role this time is for me to be the leading man on stage. Hence, you’re all playing second fiddle to me. I certainly hope you don’t hinder my main agenda! Or is it that you can’t bear the thought of having to boost my career now after you abandoned me all those years ago?”
Suddenly, Mirabelle looked up at Maverick, tears streaming down her face.
Maverick’s gaze turned heavy, seemingly oblivious to Mirabelle’s tearful state. “Stay,” he commanded, “practice properly!
Mirabelle was forcefully kept back by Maverick, compelled to start rehearsing.
Isabella was leisurely watching the scene unfold.
Smooth move, Maverick. Can you honestly say that wasn’t intentional? Out of all the scenes,

you just happened to choose the one that needed rehearsing and involved a kissing scene? And it’s even a scene where Mirabelle has to take the initiative to confess and ask for a kiss. You must be thinking about humiliating Mirabelle in your heart. You’re really going to great lengths to find an excuse for your own benefit, even to the point of deceiving yourself.
Christopher and Rosalie chuckled. “Ah, the point isn’t to get drunk, is it?”
Next time, don’t just forcefully pull someone into your arms and kiss them, okay? Just because Mirabelle hesitated and seemed unwilling, that excited you? She’s like a walking springtime, just right to stir up feelings in you, an underdeveloped creature?
Christopher said to Rosalie, “He’s shameless, despicable, and has no dignity.”
This is strikingly similar to those masochistic romantic dramas where the male lead, with his head full of nonsense, would hug and kiss, claiming it’s not love but hatred. Such a peculiar way of expressing hatred, always causing unnecessary drama, essentially creating ambiguity. Although I don’t know what would become of these two, I can’t help but feel sorry for Hendrick and Danielle.
Christopher and Rosalie couldn’t help but nod in agreement. One was being cheated on, and the other forced into playing a tool in the plot. Do they really think they were the male and female leads, and everyone else was just cannon fodder on their path to love?
Inside, Danielle was already shaking with anger, especially after hearing Maverick’s self–righteous justification. She was practically on the verge of laughing out of sheer frustration.
Even for a formal live performance, this kind of stage show only required stand- ins. Who would rehearse like this in a professional setting?
“Rehearsal? Maverick, do you even know where we are?” Danielle’s bright eyes were firmly fixed on Maverick.
The place is bustling with people, a public space filled with chatter and noise. However, for a certain man, who is entirely infatuated, it doesn’t matter where or when. He has no spare thought to consider the trouble his actions might stir up.
As expected, Maverick showed impatience. “I’ll say it again, it was just a rehearsal.”
“However, the online community wouldn’t accept such an explanation. If anyone had captured what just happened and decided to spread it, then the headlines would be filled with ‘Maverick taking advantage of someone else’s girlfriend under

Maverick was instantly stung by the sarcasm, and in a fit of embarrassed anger, he snapped, “Enough, just stop it already. Don’t be so blindly jealous, acting like a shrew, regardless of the situation.”
Danielle was taken aback by his words, while the onlookers were rendered. speechless.
Hahaha. I can’t understand his reasoning. It’s obviously the most logical assumption, yet he thought Danielle is just being jealous and spiteful. I’d bet my money that Danielle’s blood pressure is skyrocketing right now. She probably feels a sense of humiliation from being falsely accused too.
Danielle seemed as if she had just emerged from a storm of confusion, pointing at herself, she absurdly said, “Jealous? Like a shrew? Maverick, I dare you to say that again.”
Whoa, Danielle just couldn’t keep her temper in check anymore.
True to form, Danielle, even when confronted with such a distressing situation, is still able to spot the oversight.
