Chapter 427
Beatrice was so tense on the side, her hands clenching into fists.
But now, Beatrice looked at Jared with a tinge of fear. After all, it was Jared who had caused her so much suffering.
She had once spent a month in detention.
The thought of that time filled Beatrice with rage.
But she hated Agnes even more.
She had clearly told Agnes that Alyssa was the one who killed her mother.
Given Agnes’s straightforward character, shouldn’t she have broken up with Jared long ago?
Why are they still so close?
Could Agnes really disregard her mother’s death and continue to live carefree as Mrs. Whitfield?
Beatrice didn’t expect Agnes to be such a vain, superficial person.
She really detested Agnes to the core,
Seeing Beatrice’s uncontrollable emotions, Laura feared she might stir up trouble again.
So, she said to Jared, “You guys stick around for a bit, I’m going back to help your dad pack up some things.”
And with that, she dragged Beatrice away.
After Laura left, Agnes wiped the tears from her face, then pushed Jared away, taking a step back to keep distance.
Agnes said, “Jared, since we’re getting a divorce, you don’t need to worry about my affairs, just go back, I’ll take care of my dad.”
Agnes still had some savings in her bank account.
So she didn’t need to rely on Jared financially.
She didn’t want to owe Jared any favors at this crucial moment.
Jared said calmly, “Agnes, let’s put aside the divorce for now, let’s wait until your dad’s condition is stable, okay? I’ve already contacted world–renowned _neurologists, they’ll be at Hope Hospital in a couple of days for consultation, don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to your dad.”
Agnes didn’t know what she was feeling.
But right now, Preston was still in critical condition.
The constant blows and busyness had worn her out. She didn’t have the energy to think about anything else.
Right now, all Agnes wanted was for her dad to be safe, everything else could wait.
Jared stayed with Agnes in the ICU all night..
The next evening.
The doctor brought good news: Preston was out of danger.
Agnes anxiously asked, “When will he wake up?”
The doctor sighed, “The chances are slim, but with the rapid development of medical science, there might be a chance for him to wake up in the future.”
Upon hearing this, Agnes felt as if the world had darkened.
Jared comforted Agnes, “The specialists I invited will be here tomorrow, and I’ll personally attend the consultation. Agnes, don’t worry, I won’t let you lose your dad.”
A week later, Preston was moved from the ICU to a regular VIP ward.
