Chapter 435
Agnes suddenly realized, “I see, I must have got it all wrong about Ms. Laura”
Laura was surprised by Agnes‘ sudden change. Agnes was always straightforward and did not tolerate any injustice.
The minute she got home and started grilling Laura, it was obvious she’d seen something at the game.
Even though Laura insisted she was innocent, deep down she knew Agnes would never believe her.
Laura was confused by Agnes unusual reaction. She managed a weak smile, “I’ll just go take a shower and then head to the hospital to see your dad.”
As Laura went upstairs, Agnes watched her leave, her expression turning frosty
Agnes knew better than to confront someone like Laura, even if she didn’t admit to anything.
Especially since Laura always used her father’s reputation as a threat.
Lately, Agnes was constantly back and forth between home and the hospital.
Even though Laura hadn’t been out and about, she often visited Preston in the hospital.
But truth be told, she didn’t really give a hoot about Preston’s condition.
All the medical plans for Preston were down to Agnes.
And it was always Agnes who was negotiating with the medical team.
To say Agnes was heartbroken would be an understatement.
Laura hadn’t even done as much as sponge bathe Preston or change his clothes.
Agnes wasn’t sure when Laura started seeing that guy, but it was crystal clear that Laura had lost all feeling for her father.
Agnes was a bit gutted, realizing that it’s only when the chips are down that you see someone’s true colors.
Jared was a regular visitor too.
Even Tim stopped by a couple of times.
Tim was still in the dark about Alyssa and her falling out.
He was always comforting her, saying the Whitfield family would have her back.
Looking at Tim’s gray hair, Agnes was at a loss for words.
Day after day, Agnes kept vigil at the hospital.
But Preston’s condition didn’t improve.
He just lay there, still as can be, like he was asleep.
All this time, Agnes talked to him every day, about everything and anything.
It was like she was getting everything she hadn’t said in ten years off her chest.
Sometimes, Agnes thought this wasn’t so bad.
If her dad never woke up, she would be there with him.
March 15th was Jared’s birthday.
The Whitfield family threw a lavish party, with all the big shots and high society of the city.
But Agnes didn’t show up.
