Chapter 436
The first time Agnes heard the name Valeria was from Kerri.
During this time, Kerri and Brayden had been a great help to her.
Kerri was interning at Hope Hospital.
Even though she didn’t work in neurology, she would spend time with Agnes whenever she had the chance.
Sometimes, she even brought food for Agnes.
Kerri told her that Valeria was no ordinary person.
Despite being the second daughter of the Thomas family, she was an exceptional talent, serving as the COO of the Thomas Group, ranking even higher than her own father.
The Thomas family respected her, even more than their two biological sons.
More importantly, Valeria didn’t reach her position through nepotism, she climbed her way up based on her own abilities.
Agnes was helping Preston with his bath.
She turned her head towards Kerri, “Why are you telling me all this?”
Kerri worriedly said, “Aren’t you worried at all? You and Jared–are in a delicate situation now, aren’t you afraid she will take advantage of this? Moreover, as far as I know, although Alyssa doesn’t get along well with the Thomas family, she’s pretty tight with Valeria. They’ve kept in touch all these years. Valeria’s been frequently seen around the Whitfield family lately, I think Alyssa might be trying to play matchmaker between her and Jared. On Jared’s birthday a few days ago, Valeria was sitting at the head table. Otherwise, how would those rumors start?”
Agnes continued her task without pause, “That’s pretty normal. Alyssa and I are not on speaking terms anymore, why would she want me to stay Mrs. Whitfield? Jared’s refusing to divorce now, Alyssa probably wants him to find a new partner and forget me.”
“So you really don’t mind at all, letting the Whitfield family arrange things this way?”
Having finally finished bathing Preston and helping him into fresh clothes, Agnes wiped the sweat from her forehead, “Why should I care? I want to divorce Jared. If Valeria can make him agree to that, it’s a good thing for me.”
Just as she finished speaking, the door to the room was abruptly kicked open.
Jared stood in the doorway, his face dark.
From his expression, it was clear he had been standing there for a while.
Having heard what Agnes said, he could hold back no longer and kicked open the door.
Kerri paled, regretting her words.
Agnes, however, remained expressionless.
Jared, in his black coat, looked aloof and arrogant.
But in his hand was a food container.
Kerri was used to it by now.
He’s bringing Agnes soup again. And these soups were all personally cooked by Jared.
Even Kerri found it hard to believe that Jared, so proud and busy, could find the time to make soup for Agnes every day.
