The moment Beatrice laid eyes on Agnes, she just wanted to slap her. 

Today was her birthday, and Agnes had turned it into a total disaster. 

If it hadn’t been for Jared stepping in, Beatrice had no clue how she would’ve sorted out this mess. 

But, there was a silver lining in this cloud.

Four years had passed and Jared had clearly lost all affection for Agnes, leaving only resentment and bitterness. 

Beatrice deliberately walked up to Jared, her eyes filled with tears and putting on a wounded act, “I really want to thank you for earlier. If it weren’t for you, I would’ve been lost.” 

She glanced in the direction of Agnes, “I can’t believe my own sister would humiliate me in front of so many people. I’m a victim too, I had no idea that painting was fake. Thank God you were there.” 

Jared gave Beatrice a nonchalant look and said, “I know.” 

Agnes couldn’t stand it anymore and stormed off. 

Laura started picking up the pieces and dealing with the press. 

The chocolate cake Agnes had just eaten was making her stomach churn. 

There was a door next to the banquet hall, leading to a small balcony. 

Agnes decided to step outside. 

The night air was slightly chilly but at least it shut out the noise, clearing her head a bit. 

She had publicly exposed Beatrice to reveal her true colors and most importantly, to convince Laura and Beatrice. that her return was to settle old scores, hiding her real purpose. 

Knowing Laura, the more decisive Agnes was, the more likely Laura would keep her close. 

Laura liked to be in control and keep an eye on things. 

That was exactly what Agnes wanted. 

Agnes had planned to create chaos, but she didn’t expect Jared to see right through her. 

She had done a lot of preparation. 

A couple of days ago, when Agnes saw in the newspaper that Beatrice was auctioning “Venus” at her birthday party, she knew that the painting was a fake. 

What a coincidence, the real painting had been hanging in Reggie Albert’s study for three years. Earlier this year, Nocturne suddenly took an interest in collecting art. 

Reggie gave her the “Venus” along with several other famous paintings.
