Yolanda noticed it too.
The world certainly works in mysterious ways.
Jared and Agnes had divorced four years ago. For those four years, Agnes had disappeared off the face of the earth. Who could have predicted a reunion under these circumstances?
Jared must loathe his ex-wife, right? After all, she had exposed the Whitfield family to a scandal that nearly pushed Alyssa Whitfield to suicide.
In his fury, Jared had thrown Agnes out, and she had vanished since.
Four years had passed. Would Jared even recognize his ex-wife?
Yolanda couldn't help but smirk as she watched Agnes.
That woman didn't dare to steal a glance in their direction. She must not have expected to find herself in such a situation. She had likely been dealt with severely in the past, and now, she didn't even dare to lift her head.
The more fearful and guilty Agnes seemed, the more Yolanda wanted to drag her into the spotlight. Suddenly, Yolanda turned to Agnes and said, "Agnes, Mr. Whitfield is here, aren't you going to greet him?" Yolanda did this intentionally.
Agnes knew that she couldn’t avoid the situation anymore. So, she reluctantly stood up and walked over.
With a smile on her face, Yolanda said, "Mr. Whitfield, Agnes is a highly talented individual we hired with a high salary. She studied abroad and previously worked at CNN with great success."
At this point, with so many eyes on her, Agnes had no choice but to greet him confidently, "Mr. Whitfield, it's an honor to finally meet you."
Jared's gaze fixed on Agnes. To the average observer, he appeared emotionless, but Agnes could see a hint of mockery in his eyes.
Jared said, "I'm always pleased to meet talented individuals like Ms. Pritchard. In fact, I've booked a private room at Cloud View. I'd like to invite everyone from the News Department to dinner tonight."
The department head remarked, "The Sky Dome is rarely open to the public, usually reserved for foreign dignitaries. I've never been here before. Thanks to Mr. Whitfield, we get to experience this beautiful view."
Everyone took their seats, and the department head sat next to Jared.
But no one dared to sit on the other side of Jared.
Recognizing the hint, Yolanda took a seat next to the department head.
Everyone else followed suit. With Yolanda as a precedent, everyone wisely avoided the seat next to Jared. Finally, when everyone else had taken their seats, only Agnes was left standing.
And there was only one seat left, the one next to Jared...
