Chapter 271
Whether Lily minded or not was not within Xavier’s consideration. He couldn’t even be bothered to respond to her and drove straight to Nova Group
At the company entrance, Timothy was waiting. Xavier handed the phone to Timothy without asking for Lily’s permission. The anonymous number on Lily’s phone was important evidence for Timothy’s investigation of who it was
1 still need my phone.” Lily had thought. Timothy would only note down the phone number. She wasn’t expecting him to take away the phone.
She turned to glare at Xavier. “You won’t divorce me, and now you’re taking my phone. You’re disrupting my life!”
Xavier pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and shot her a glance.
The interior of the car was warm, and Lily’s down jacket was unzipped. It revealed the dress underneath that clung to her shapely figure. Her stomach was flat, and she was not pregnant.
Xavier lit a cigarette in the car without hesitation.
The swirling smoke enveloped Xavier’s face, gradually obscuring his expression. He suddenly laughed and said, “Who’s disrupting whose life here?”
In the past two months, he had touched her only a handful of times. His body was affected too, along with his work Lily had affected him personally and professionally
Lily thought if Xavier was so afraid of being affected, then he should just go ahead with the divorce. Her chest heaved with emotion, but she didn’t push him any further. She still understood Xavier’s temper, afterall
It was only when he admitted to the affair that they could finally divorce.
“Give me a time frame, I can’t wait forever,” Lily said.
“A month at most, Xavier barely parted his lips as he gave a timing. He could tell Lily was anxious, and he deliberately gave a timeframe that would make her unhappy.
No matter the process or the outcome, he wanted her to know that in this marriage and this “battle” with her, he was the one in control
Only God knew how much Lily had to endure through the cooling–off period. Now, with another month to go, her frustration turned into anger.
“We agreed to divorce today, and whoever doesn’t want to is a loser!”
“If it weren’t for the fake pregnancy and baseless accusations of infidelity, we would have divorced a long time ago.” Xavier took a deep drag on his cigarette and rolled the window down halfway,
He flicked the ash from his cigarette and waved away the smokor between them before he spoke again, “You started all of this.”
Lily was speechless, but she still couldn’t swallow the anger in her heart.
It was clearly his fault, but she had become the “culprit” for their failed divorce. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath to force herself to calm down.
Lily said, “Okay, one month. During this month, we will continue to live as we are. You need to get me a new phone, and I still have temporary rights to this car I’ll return everything to you… when the divorce happens.”
It would be inconvenient for her to visit Hayden at the hospital without a car. Getting to work would be a problem without it too, and she had planned to move. Bayview Gardens was too far away from her workplace, and it was a two–hour commute each way. Any car would make everything more convenient.
