“Don’t ask, just investigate, Xavier’s lips barely parted as he spoke. His four words carried an undeniable authority that couldn’t be refused. 

“Of course.” Timothy could only nod and continue with the Investigation. 

Lily drove straight to look for a new apartment. Lupier’s sales department was located in a mall, surrounded by several nice residential areas with plenty of housing available. 

In about two hours, she picked a one–bedroom apartment. She signed the rental agreement and paid the rent on the spot. She then returned to Bayview Garden to move her things. 

By the time she had moved everything over to the new pl

As she busied herself cleaning her new home, Lily messaged Maryanne to let her know she had moved. Maryanne immediately initiated a video call

She answered the call, placed the phone on a shelf, and said, “You can come over anytime now. It’s a one–bedroom, and we can share the bed. Most importantly, my mom won’t ever show up again.” 

The most important reason for moving was to escape Hazel and Bobby’s clutches. She had no intention of informing them of her new address, and they had no idea 

where she worked.

Maryanne had been waiting for the good news about her divorce. Instead, what she got was the news of the move, and was met with Lily’s miserable and dejected face on the screen. She knew something bad happened. 

Lily summarized what had happened at the courthouse in a few words, and Maryanne responded with one “What the fuck?” after another. Lily continued to briefly describe her visit to Fulton Manor to clarify the pregnancy and cheating issues. 

“What the fucking hell!” Maryanne exclaimed as she got dressed in a hurry. “Send me your location right now. We need to talk about this in person!!! 

Maryanne worried that Lily might break down halfway through with no one around to comfort her. Although Terence always said she wasn’t the comforting type, Maryanne thought she could at least give Lily hugs. She didn’t give Lily a chance to refuse, and she hung up the call. 

Lily had no choice but to send Maryanne her location, and Maryanne arrived an hour later. 

Lily had almost finished unpacking. She had even brought over some of the ingredients from the fridge at Bayview Gardens. There wasn’t much, but it was enough to make two plates of pasta. 

While Lily cooked the pasta in the kitchen, Maryanne toured her new apartment. She then went to the dining area. 

Maryanne wanted Lily to give a detailed account of the exciting events today. When she saw how focused Lily was on her cooking, she didn’t mention it again. She was afraid it would upset her.
