Chapter 27
Suzanne’s eyes widened in shock, and her previously calmed heart once again raced uncontrollably. How could stin do this?
She was utterly stunned. She reached out to push him away, only to find that he wouldn’t budge an inch.
As for Austin, he had merely intended to punish Suzanne, but the moment their lips touched, he found himself unable to stop, With his eyes closed tightly, he fought for his self–restraint and eventually stopped. In a low voice, he warned, “This is your punishment. I don’t want to hear those two words again
Suzanne was in a complete daze.
Then, Austin rolled over, lay back down in his original position, and pulled the blanket over them again.
Suzanne’s checks were burning hot, and she unconsciously clenched her hands into fists. She could barely suppress the wild beating of her heart.
She had initially thought for sure she wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight. After all, it was her first time sharing a bed with Austin.
Still, at some point, she managed to fall asleep amidst her complicated thoughts.
The next morning, as the sunlight shone through the sheer curtains, Suzanne slowly opened her eyes. The memories of last night came rushing back to her in detall. She sat up abruptly, but she soon realized that the space beside her was empty.
Suzanne let out a sigh of relief at that. It wasn’t that she was trying to be overly sensitive, but facing it all of a sudden was a bit awkward–especially since they had shared the same bed. At least the kiss last night had been done in the dark.
The ringing of her phone snapped Suzanne out of her daze. She tossed the blanket aside and reached out for her phone on the bedside table.
When she saw it was Shane calling, she immediately answered the call “Hello?”
As soon as Shane heard her groggy wake, he knew she hadn’t gotten up yet. He chuckled and asked reasingly, “Still not up, huh? Get ready. We’ve pot Dew request coming in.”
After Suzanne bung up, she headed to the closet and selected a formal tweed dress. Once she was ready, she headed downstairs and was about to leave the house when Rita hurriedly called out, “Mrs. Hall, you haven’t had breakfast yet!”
Before Rita could answer, Suzanne had already turned around and strode uff.
