"Please address the situation at the cardiac surgery department entrance," Charles requested, as it wasn't ideal for the crowd to remain outside the examination room.
Holding her phone, Hazel promptly contacted the PR department to organize the necessary follow-up.
Marsha, filled with rage, sat in the chair, gripping her chest and staring daggers at Charles.
He sat back down, casting a guilty glance at Marsha. "I apologize. I didn't see this coming," he admitted.
At first, he assumed Marsha was seeking special privileges to skip the line. Now, he understood it was due to her public persona. Her being in public could definitely lead to unwelcome issues.
Marsha, accustomed to Charles' typically loud and bold demeanor, was taken aback by his genuine apology.
She adjusted her stance, and her voice naturally became gentler. "It's fine, as long as you've learned your lesson. Just make sure to treat me extra special next time." Her words, though, still had an undertone of defiance.
Recognizing his mistake, Charles didn't let Marsha's behavior affect him. "We still need to go through with today's check-up. I'll draft the order..."
He hesitated, recalling the crowd outside. "I'll set up a private session for you." As he said this, he started completing the paperwork for Marsha.
She lifted her chin a bit and nodded with approval. "That's better."
Her hand reached for a small plush toy on Charles's desk, and she gave its head a playful squeeze.
Hazel, who had been engrossed in working with the PR department on the forthcoming headlines, glanced up. Her eyes moved back and forth between the two of them. She detected a shift in the mood between them, and a trace of amusement appeared in her eyes.
Due to Charles' arrangements, the following examinations proceeded without a hitch. The radiologist offered personalized attention, and the results were quickly provided. Marsha finished all her tests in less than an hour.
Marsha took a seat across from Charles once more, her face hidden by a mask. Hazel passed the stack of test reports to Charles.
