Chapter 55
Despite the bright sunlight outside, it was dark and gloomy inside the room. The air was thick with the smell of herbs
Sunne sniffed the air, recognizing some of the ingredients as those used for promoting blood circulation.
She glanced at Shane and said, “Open the curtains.”
The room was too dark to examine anything properly.
But before Shane could respond, a pillow suddenly flew out of the shadows, Suzanne instinctively ducked to avoid it, but it landed squarely on Shane’s.
face
Shane winced in pain as the pillow hit his nose. His anger immediately flared. “Who attacked me?!
He was thankful it was just a pillow. If it had been something else, his handsome face might’ve been ruined.
Just then, Suzanne tumed on the lights, and the room was instantly illuminated.
The space was a mess, filled with scattered items. It was difficult to even find a place to step on
On the bed, someone was moving under the blankets. His muffled voice came from beneath. “Get out of here. I don’t need you to treat me
Suzanne and Shane exchanged a brief look. She gave Shane a subtle signal, and he understood immediately. He shut the door behind them and quickly pulled the curtains open
Sunlight streamed into the room, and the person in the bed, Rodney, trembled violently beneath the blanket.
Before Suzanne could step forward, Rodney suddenly threw off the blanket and swung a punch at Shane
“Oh my!” Shane barely had time to react but managed to block the ponch
Rodney, dressed in all black, was tall and siender with a sharp face. There was a faint scar near the corner of his right eye. He glared at Suzanne and Shane as he muttered angrily, “I don’t need your treatment. Gecout!”
Marvin’s wife, Suzy Halt, nished upstairs. Her eyes filled with concem as she asked, “What’s going on? Why did Rodney suddenly have an episode?”
Marvin quickly blocked her. “Wat. The miracle doctor I hired is here.”
Suzy’s eyes brightened, and she instinctively grabbed his arm. “Really? Is it Dr. Jane Smith, the one you mentioned before?”
Sury was overjoyed. “That’s great news!
