When Adam arrived at Brenda’s place, she was already waiting outside, dressed to impress as usual. She climbed into the passenger seat, her lips tugged into a sly smile.

“Took you long enough,” she said, adjusting her sunglasses.

Adam didn’t bother responding. Instead, he focused on the road ahead, his grip on the steering wheel tightening. The tension between them was palpable.

Halfway to the hospital, Brenda’s head lolled against the window as she drifted off to sleep. Adam glanced at her, his jaw clenching.

By the time they reached the hospital, Adam parked the car and gently nudged her awake. “We’re here.”

Brenda stirred, groaning softly before opening her eyes. When she realized where they were, she immediately tensed.

“This isn’t the right hospital,” she said, her voice sharp.

Adam raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean? This hospital is perfectly fine.”

Brenda shook her head, her tone firm. “No. I have a specific one in mind. Take me there.”

Adam frowned, suspicion flickering across his face. “Why somewhere else? Is there something you’re hiding?”

“What? No! Of course not,” she exclaimed, her eyes darting away.

“Then it shouldn’t matter where we go,” Adam said, his voice hardening. “If there’s nothing fishy going on, you’ll get down right now and walk into that hospital. Or I’ll be forced to believe otherwise, and the wedding will be off.”

Her face paled. “You wouldn’t dare.”

“Try me.”

Left with no choice, Brenda reluctantly stepped out of the car and followed Adam into the hospital. She walked stiffly, her discomfort obvious.

Inside, the staff greeted them professionally and quickly began the necessary procedures. Blood samples were taken, and they were asked to wait for the results.

Adam sat calmly in the waiting area, but his eyes never left Brenda. She was fidgeting nonstop, her gaze darting around the room.

“Something wrong?” Adam asked, feigning concern.

“No,” Brenda snapped. “I’m fine.”

Adam smirked to himself and sent a quick message to Sophie:

“At the hospital. Get the press here.”
