Her Majesty novel Chapter 48

Last night was really an unhappy night. Amanda and I were unhappy, early in the morning she left angrily, even not talking to me.

When Ben came back, it was already nearly 11 o'clock. He looked haggard, it could be told that he was tortured by a woman last night.

He glared at me and asked, “Justin, how was your night? I made room for you and Amanda.”

I said feebly, “Good, good.”

Ben smiled, he certainly misunderstood me from his wretched smile, but I would not tell him about the disgraceful thing, so I smiled too.

After a while, Ben asked me, “Justin, now we have Mayor Chang in our back, what is your plan?”

I thought for a while and said, “First of all, we need to do a good job in the business district. Mayor Chang is very optimistic about this project. By the way, where are Sabina and others? Don't they live here anymore?”

“Well, this is my house. Everyone was crowded here to recuperate in the past. They have their own accommodation. Sabina has always been elusive, she would show up and she needs to. You don't have to worry about her.” Ben said with a smile.

“Oh, I see.” I nodded.

“Right, Justin, here you are, password is 645781.” Ben gave me a bank credit card.

I was curious and asked, “What is this?”

“Here's all the money I've made over the years, and the money we got from the bank for this project, and you'll be in charge of the money from now on.” Ben said generously.

“No. Just keep the money and I'll get it when I need it.” I said.

“What am I doing with the money? You're the boss now. You should be in charge of the money.” Ben said seriously.

I cannot refuse, but said, “I will take it. I think we'll have to find an accountant.”

Ben smiled and said, “Amanda will be the best candidate.”

I was stunned for a moment, and then smiled.

At this time, Leon, one of the Ben’s men came in a hurry.

He looked upset and said to us, “Ben, Justin, something was wrong.”

Ben’s face darkened and asked, “What is going on?”

The man said, “Recently we are not busy with the demolition. We have reached an agreement with the people there, leaving the last one, who refused.”

Ben was relaxed after hearing that, he asked, “People are different. There will be someone like this. Give him more money.”

Leon was aggrieved and said, “We did. And we paid him one time higher of price, but that person did not agree and seemed to embarrass us intentionally.”

Finally Ben put down the gun. At this time Leon finished all phone calls. After a while, two vans parked outside Ben’s villa.

Except for the Bill who was in hospital, others arrived. Although there were only eight of them, they were all of a bleak temperament and strong body. I estimated that they can deal with those dozen rascals, but it would be better not to fight.

Ben glanced at the gang, waved his hand and shouted, “Get in the car!”

Two vans and a black BMW sped toward the demolition area.

I was very hesitant in the car. Mayor Chang said that I should report to him no matter what things happened. Should I tell him about this matter?

After thinking for a long time, I still decided not to call him, because I thought it would not be a big case with me here. Since it was a small case, there was no need to bother Mayor Chang.

The perimeter of the demolition zone had become almost a construction site, with bulldozers and excavators humming and several trucks parked as if waiting to haul waste.

As we drove down the dilapidated road, a two-story building appeared in front of us. It looked old, its walls cracked, and it looked like a dangerous building.

The north wall of the building was painted with the word “demolition” in large letters.

Two young men were standing outside smoking. When they saw us, they ran into the building, shouting and screaming.

In a short while, a dozen fierce men in bare arms with tattoos, carrying sticks and bricks, walked towards us menacingly.
