Chapter 327
Jessie was filled with jealousy.
Although the Moore family could be considered wealthy, the business of the Moore Group was deteriorating yearly. Their total assets were only worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Most of it was the company’s share value. Jessie and Quintin did not have much cash on hand. Their most valuable things were the villas and mansions left behind by the previous generations.
Jessie and Quintin did not get a huge sum after distributing the profit to other shareholders.
In addition, Quintin’s treatment required a lot of money. They barely had enough to support their current wealthy lifestyle.
The poor daughter they had always looked down on actually had nearly 20 million in assets under her name.
On the other hand, let alone 20 million dollars, Jessie didn’t even have 100,000 dollars she could use as she pleased.
Even Quintin was jealous after learning about this.
If Riverview Hospital was really as Lea had claimed and could make advancements and further develop various fields of research, its value would increase to 20 billion dollars or more soon.
When the time came, Shannon’s net worth would skyrocket.
If Quintin and Jessie acknowledged Shannon as their daughter, the Moore family would rank among the noble and rich families. Their value and reputation would also rise, making them superior to others.
Quintin and Jessie were overjoyed. Their ambitions were clearly written on their faces as their eyes lit
Lorrand looked at them and felt a chill down his spine. He now understood why Lea had set the rule to guard the hospital against pooled funds and being listed.
The world was packed with greedy people and was mainly controlled by capitalism. Once the hospital went public or accepted investments, the staff would fall into a competition for benefits and would not be able to focus on research.
Lorrand thought, ‘Fortunately, the person we encountered was Lea.
Lorrand’s respect for Lea deepened. He resolved to lead the hospital to do well in its service and research. This was because such an opportunity was extremely rare to come by.
Lorrand assured Quintin and Jessie, saying, “The two of you don’t have to worry about Mr. Moore’s condition. As long as you’re Shannon’s father, Miss Berry… I mean the hospital will definitely think of a way to develop a pacemaker for you as soon as possible.”
Quintin and Jessie widened their eyes. They took a deep breath as thoughts raced through their mind.
Not only was Shannon crucial in determining the Moore family’s wealth and future, but Quintin’s life depended on her.
Lorrand took one more look at them before leaving the ward.
As soon as he left, he saw Leona standing behind the door with a rose gold handbag. Her hands were tightly gripping the tiny bag. The bag would have been torn if not for its excellent quality.
From the looks of it, Leona had overheard their conversation.
Lorrand had deliberately revealed Shannon’s current worth to Quintin and Jessie. Over the past month, he had come to understand Shannon and the Moore couple better.
Shannon was well aware she couldn’t choose her parents or change her bloodline. So, she was prepared to stay connected with Quintin and Jessie. However, Shannon wanted to be the one who was in control of the distance and the kind of interaction they would have.
Hence, Lorrand helped Shannon by revealing her worth to Quintin and Jessie.
Of course, the hospital share was not Shannon’s only trump card. Her biggest trump cards were her family–like friends and colleagues. Lea was also Shannon’s trump card. Shannon herself was a trump card too.
She was so talented and hardworking. She was still young now, but Lorrand was certain that she would definitely become very influential in the
future.
Leona was scheming. However, Shannon was not stupid. Moreover, the entire hospital was backing her.
Lorrand glanced at Leona indifferently and left. He had to meet Lea to follow up on Yannis’s condition.
Leona was beyond shocked and was on the verge of breaking down. Her mind was consumed by the lingering thought of Shannon owning 0.3% of

the shares of Riverview Hospital.
Just this point alone made Leona pale into insignificance to Shannon. There was nothing Leona could do in front of Quintin and Jessie to top this.
From Leona’s point of view, Shannon was merely a lowly person raised by Donna in a smelly ditch. Shannon was the poorest in the entire Conrad University. To support herself, she had to sacrifice all her spare time, and even take leaves from classes, to work like a dog for Lea.
Leona could not figure out how Shannon managed to become this rich.
Leona overheard the conversation between Quintin and Jessie through the ward door. Their words were like a dagger to her heart.
“You must bring Shannon home regardless,” Quintin ordered Jessie in a serious tone. His eyes were filled with disappointment and anger.
If Jessie hadn’t screwed up several times, their relationship with Shannon wouldn’t have become so distant.
Back then, Shannon even took the initiative to go to the Moore family and persuade Quintin to get his illness treated.
Quintin and Jessie gave Shannon the cold shoulder before this. Now, they couldn’t win her back even with their warmest welcome.
“I know. I will definitely convince Shannon to come back to us.” Jessie was different from her usual self. She sounded gentle and sincere.
Putting the Moore family aside, even Jessie herself was eager to win Shannon back regardless of the price she had to pay.
Jessie’s maiden family, the Hunter family, was not as rich and influential as the Moore family. Although Jessie was Quintin’s wife, she had always been looked down upon in the Moore family because of her lowly family background.
Shannon was Jessie’s only and best chance to make a comeback.
“But now, what are we going to do?” asked Jessie with a headache.
She had exhausted all possible means. Yet, she couldn’t even meet Shannon face–to–face.
Quintin thought for a moment, and a cold and ruthless look flashed in his eyes. He analyzed, “Donna was the cause of Shannon’s suffering all these years. It was also Donna who left Shannon with psychological trauma.”
Thinking of Lorrand’s words, Quintin and Jessie were furious.
If it wasn’t for Donna, Shannon wouldn’t be so wary of them and would be easier to please.
Quintin continued, “Back then, Donna secretly swapped our daughter. This is a serious crime.” His gaze became more determined as he said, “If we want to prove our sincerity to win Shannon back, we have to make Donna pay for her crime.”
Jessie’s expression changed. “Then… what about Leona?”
Quintin and Jessie had not filed a lawsuit against Donna mainly because they did not value Shannon before this.
Also, Leona was the daughter they had raised for 18 years and had spent a lot of effort and resources nurturing. They definitely had feelings for her, and they didn’t want to give up their investment. A young lady who had been carefully nurtured was also very valuable to wealthy families like the Moore family.
