Lea was stimned and did not say anything else. 

Jonah said, “Lea, I do feel emotional when I see her. It’s because I hate myself. I actually risked my life to protect her when I saw that she was in danger. If it were you, you would be able to treat her like nothing, just like how you treated Milton, right?” 

Lea sighed silently. “Do you know why Alfred and I can be honest with each other and not leave any doubts between us? Because we’re both afraid that a misunderstanding like that could hurt us. That it might take us further and further away from each other. We also have an unwritten agreement to trust each other completely” 

“Absolute trust in each other?” Jonah murmured, “How!” 

“I believe in Alfred no matter what, unless 1 really verify it and realize that I was blind to have trusted him in the first place 

Jonah suddenly trembled. His gaze was distant as his thoughts traveled back to the past. 

When Lea entered the ward to see Celia, she had already completely calmed down. “Lea, you don’t have to visit me if you’re busy. I’m fine. I’ll be discharged in half a month.” 

Lea observed her for a while and found that her mental state was indeed not bad.

“Celia, what was your profession in the past? Lea asked curiously. 

Celia paused for a moment. She lowered her eyes and pondered for a moment. Then, she smiled bitterly. “If nothing had happened, I would be an excellent lawyer now,” 

“Then what are your plans for the future?” 

“I interviewed for a prime–time news anchor in Iverton. Eve already passed. I’ll go to work after I recover” Celia smiled, full of hope for her new job and life. 

Tr’s quite to your liking. I’ll be around if you need me in the future. 

“Then Lea, I will have to thank you in advance.” Celia was very clear about Lea’s ability. 

“No problem” Even if she didn’t say it, Lea would still protect her. 

The two of them chatted for a while. Although this was the first time they had met, they were friends with no secrets to each other. 

Finally, Lea asked again, “Is there anything else you need my help with?”

When Lea came out of the ward, it was already late at night. 

She stood in the dim corridor for a moment before taking out her phone and sending a message to Jonah. “Celia asked me to help her find a child. She had a daughter in the past. After giving birth, she was taken away.” 

On the other side, Jonah returned to the ward. There was no smoking in the ward. He hid in the bathroom and sat on the toilet bowl. He smoked one cigarette after another as if he was addicted to it and swallowed the smoke. 

There were already many cigarette butts by his feet, and the small space was filled with smoke. When he realized that a text message had come in, Jonah flipped open his phone screen to take a look. 

Then, he suddenly stood up and rushed out. Just as he was about to open the bathroom door, he suddenly stood rooted to the ground, not daring to go out. He was trembling. Celia could only give birth to his child. 

Lea stayed in the corridor for a while and was about to leave when she received a call from Charles. “Miss Berry, the results of the drug analysis are out. I’ve sent them to you.”
