"Ms. Newton went to the hospital," Simon said.
"To see who?" Leonardo asked.
"Mr. Shaw," Simon replied.
Leonardo's expression darkened even further, as if a storm was about to break out at any moment. "If I wanted to blow up the hospital—"
Simon's hair stood on end. He wished he could rush over and clamp a hand over Leonardo's mouth. Instead, he exclaimed, "Mr. Garrett, be careful with your words!"
When Leonardo behaved normally, he seemed polite and even somewhat chivalrous. However, once he lost it, he could be crazier than anyone else and be capable of doing just about anything.
Simon was genuinely afraid that he would snap. If Leonardo ended up behind bars, where would Simon find another job that paid this well?
He quickly changed the topic, asking, "Gary's kid is sick, so he left early. Shall I drive you home later?"
Leonardo hummed. He had no interest in anything unrelated to Samantha, so he just responded absentmindedly.
Simon wanted to share some updates on Samantha with Leonardo, but Leonardo was too stubborn for his own good. He refused to listen, and there was nothing Simon could do.
Simon sent Leonardo home to his luxurious city-center residence as if he were completing a mission. The spacious 5300-square-foot open-plan condominium was located in Sterling Residences. It was just a short commute from the company, taking no more than half an hour.
Just as they were about to enter the condominium complex, Leonardo suddenly asked, "Do you know which hospital she's at?"
"Yes, she's at Keystone Medical Center," Simon replied.
He stole a glance at Leonardo through the rearview mirror. So did he mean to…
"Let's go and take a look," Leonardo instructed.
He really was going to look for her!
"What's wrong with Leonardo? Is he sick?" At Simon's words, Samantha anxiously peeked into the car.
Simon asked in amusement, "Are you worried?"
She instantly blushed and hurried to explain, "No, I was just asking."
"It's okay to admit you're worried. Even an adult like Mr. Garrett still needs someone to worry about him," Simon teased.
Samantha merely bit her lip and said nothing.
Simon opened the car door and got out, intentionally giving them some time alone. "I've been sitting in the car for too long, and it's getting a bit uncomfortable. I need some fresh air, so you two can chat for a bit."
As he left, Simon shot Samantha a meaningful look. He hoped she would handle things well. After all, the happiness of all the employees at Evergreen Tower depended on her.
Samantha opened the car door and got in, but the atmosphere inside was heavy.
