S2 83. Adults’ Thing
“I want to carry out my duties first. Bring your family together with Diana Johnson. After that,” Philip looked at Barbara warmly, “let’s get married.”
“Does it mean it’s still a few months away?” Louis said with drooping shoulders.
Emily on her side was also sluggish. “I think we’ll be partying soon.”
Frank cupped the twins’ cheeks and gave them a gentle rub. “Don’t worry. We can still have a party. Let’s celebrate Philip’s success and
also the success of our mission.”
Emily’s eyes widened again. “That’s a great idea, Daddy.”
“Yes, I agree too,” Louis gave thumbs up.
Kara smiled seeing her children’s happiness rising again. “Well than,” she commanded attention, “shall we start breakfast? There’s a
special menu for all of us.”
Seeing Kara turn around to take two big plates, the twins craned their
necks.
“Is it sandwich?”
“Chicken salad?”
Kara shook her head. While placing the plates on the table, she answered, “Philip’s favorite menu.”
“Oh, fried chicken, hash browns, and scrambled eggs!” Emily gave a small jump.
“That’s not bad. I like it too. But, does it mean we won’t eat vegetables for breakfast this time?” Louis tried hard to suppress a smile.

Squinting, Kara turned to grab another plate. “We can’t skip eating vegetables, Little Bee.”
While Louis pouted, Emily giggled. “You can’t cheat this time, Louis. If you keep giving me your vegetables, your skin will wrinkle.”
“I could drink a lot of water,” Louis grumbled.
“It won’t help if you don’t eat fiber,” Barbara pinched her nephew’s cheek, amused.
Louis chuckled. He didn’t expect Barbara to persuade him too. “Auntie sounds like Mommy. Is that a sign that she is ready to be a Mommy?”
Barbara widened her eyes. Her face flushed slightly. After sighing in disbelief, she ruffled Louis’ hair. “You can’t wait to have a younger
cousin, hmm?”
“Yes, Emily and I always pray that Mommy will get pregnant again quickly.”
“Louis and I want twins!” Emily completed her brother’s explanation.
Smiling faintly, Frank lifted Emily into a chair. “Don’t be so loud, Princess. Mommy will be embarrassed.”
“Why be embarrassed? Isn’t that natural for adults?” Emily whis
too.
Holding back a smile, the others sat around the table. As he cli onto his chair, Louis chattered, “Adults are often embarrassed, E Uncle Philip is embarrassed when he’s caught dating. Auntie is embarrassed every time we tease her. And Mommy is embarrass when we catch her hiding with Daddy.”
“Have you ever caught your Mommy and Daddy hiding? Where was the last time?” Jeremy turned his body slightly, facing Louis.

“Please don’t make a scene, Jeremy. Now let’s eat. Louis, you like chicken, right? Here, eat a lot.”
Before his father stuffed his mouth with a chicken drumstick, Louis
raised both hands.
“Relax, Daddy. I won’t say it.”
“Why is Daddy afraid that Uncle Jeremy will find out that Daddy and Mommy hid under the table?” Emily continued.
While Frank and Kara gaped, the others laughed while shaking their heads. Only Susan sympathized with her daughter.
“That’s because the ones who usually play under the table are
children. Your Daddy and Mommy are adults. So, it’s natural for them to be embarrassed if they get caught by you,” Susan explained.
As Kara sighed in relief, the twins’ mouths rounded. Jeremy, Barbara, and Philip were amused by their innocence.
“By the way, have you changed your mind, Grandma? How about you come with us to K City? Auntie will come along.”
“Yes, it’s a shame for Grandma to look after the house alone.
Grandma Susan would be better off on holiday with us while meeting
Great-Grandma.”
Susan smiled gently. “No, Twins. You guys go. Send my greetings to Grandma Diana, hmm?”
Louis’ lips pursed for a moment. “Well then, we should take more photos, Emily. That way, Grandma can share in the holiday experience.”
“Good idea, Louis.” Emily giggled cutely.

“So, seven of us are going?” Jeremy asked.
“Yes. Me, Louis, Daddy, Mommy, Auntie, Uncle Philip, and Uncle Jeremy!” Emily pointed to the people she mentioned one by one. Her tone was cheerful.
“Woohoo! I can’t wait to ride a horse in the snow. That would be so cool!” Louis raised his fist high.
“And I can’t wait to meet Grandma Diana. She must be very beautiful and kind.” Emily cupped her two chubby cheeks with her hands and tilted her head.
Frank smiled at his children’s enthusiasm. While glancing at Kara, he whispered, “Are you excited too?”
While putting the fried chicken to the twins’ plates, Kara curled up her lips as well. “Yes, I want my hardworking husband to have more rest time. You can do that in K City.”
Leaning towards his wife, Frank raised an eyebrow. “Which hard work do you mean? If it’s ‘that’ hard work, I actually plan to try harder during the holidays.”
“Frank….” Kara looked at her husband sharply.
“Oh, look. Mommy and Daddy are whispering again. Now that I mentioned it, Mommy must be blushing again.” Louis shook his head
like an old man.
“Louis, stop teasing Mommy. It’s not nice,” Emily scolded as she pinched her brother’s ear. Louis immediately frowned, pretending to be in pain.
