S31 19. Attention to Kara
Kara smiled wryly. “No, Little Bee. I’m just tired. By tomorrow morning, I will be fit again.”
“Alright then. Kids,” Frank pointed to the clock on the wall, “how about you go back to your rooms? Let Mommy rest.”
Knowing that bedtime had arrived, the twins’ pouted.
“Why does time run so fast? Actually, I still want to play with Mommy,
Emily grumbled.
“We can keep playing in our dreams, Little Bee.”
Seeing her mother’s sweet smile, Emily slowly curled up her lips
again. “That’s right. I hope Mommy is healthy when we meet in my dream.”
She kissed Kara’s cheek. “Good night, Mommy.”
Louis also widened his smile. “Sweet dream, Mommy.” He kissed
Kara three times.
Kara laughed softly. “Thank you, Little Bee.”
Then, she straightened up her back, letting Frank move. However, before Frank had time to shift, Emily held him.
“Daddy, you don’t need to read us a story tonight. Just look after Mommy. We’ll be fine.”
Kara and Frank flinched. Pride radiated from their eyes. “Are you serious?”
Emily nodded. “Yes, we are not babies anymore, Mommy. Sometimes, we can also take care of ourselves.”

Kara smiled amusedly. “Okay.”
“And if usually, Mommy takes care of us when we’re sick,” Louis started collecting the plates, “now, let us take care of Mommy.”
“Mommy, does this basin need to be taken out?” Emily mustered up some strength. The water in the basin immediately shook.
Kara quickly waved. “No, Little Angel. Just leave the basin. Who knows, maybe I will need another compress later.”
“Oh?” Emily Carefully set the basin down again. “Okay. Then, good night, Mommy, Daddy. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to call us in the next room.”
Frank and Kara’s hearts tingled again. “Thank you, Little Angels.”
Then, Emily tried to take some plates from Louis’ hands. However, her brother didn’t let her.
“This plate is a bit heavy, Emily. I was afraid you might drop it.”
“I’m strong, Louis.”
Louis shook his head. “No. Don’t take any risks.”
“But I also want to help.” Emily pouted.
“Then open the door for me. That would be very helpful.”
“Okay.” Emily ran to grab the doorknob. After letting his brother pass,
she waved her hand one more time then closed the door.
“Our kids are so cute and independent, Kara, just like you.” Frank rubbed his wife’s arm then kissed her temple.
“Yes. We are lucky to be blessed with such great children.” Kara smiled back. “That’s my motivation to be the best mother.”
“Is that also the reason you refuse to take medicine?” Frank raised an
eyebrow.
The curve of Kara’s lips immediately changed meaning. “You also think so?”
Frank smiled crookedly. “You’ve never been this weak, Queen Bee. I think there must be something different in your body.”
Kara nodded. “That’s what I thought too. Although it’s not certain, wouldn’t it be better for us to be on guard?”
Frank took a deep breath then nodded. “Yes. And since we already have that suspicion, starting tomorrow you have to be more careful, hmm? Now get some rest.”
He arranged a pillow under her head “Enough sleep is crucial for fetal development. And if tomorrow morning your fever hasn’t subsided, we should go to the hospital.”
Kara
grimaced slightly. “That’s not certain, Frank.”
“But it’s very possible. Now sleep. Don’t think about anything else.”
“Not thinking about anything is difficult, especially when I have a husband as handsome as you.”
Frank snorted slightly. While stroking Kara’s hair, he whispered, “Don’t provoke me. Should I tell you a story so you can sleep?”
Kara let out a laugh. Her head shook lightly. “Just hug me. That is a more effective way to put me to sleep.”
Frank widened his smile. “That’s my favorite task.” He was getting into the position. Then, patting Kara’s arm, he kissed her occasionally.
Actually, guilt was still piling up in Frank’s chest. However, he did not dare to discuss it yet. He was afraid that the Diana Johnson issue would mess up Kara’s emotions again.

“Louis, do you think Mommy has a common cold?” Emily asked before turning to help her brother carry the dishes to the sink.
“Is there an unusual fever?” Louis furrowed his brows.
Suddenly, Emily framed her mouth with one hand. “Doctor Wela said that one of the signs of pregnancy is getting tired easily. Today, Mommy has mentioned several times that she’s tired. Maybe our baby sister has arrived.”
Louis’ eyes widened. “That’s right. Mommy might already be
pregnant. In that case, we have to look after Mommy more carefully, Emily.”
The little girl nodded. “I really can’t wait, Louis. But it looks like we have to pretend we don’t know. I’m afraid Mommy will be sad if it turns out it’s just an ordinary fever.”
Louis nodded. “Let’s keep it a secret!”
“What are you doing here, Kids?”
The twins gasped. Both of them stared wide-eyed with their hands clutching their chests. Only when they realized that it was Sophia did they breathe a sigh of relief.
“Oh, my heart almost stopped. Turns out it was you,” Louis muttered as he stroked his chest.
Sophia chuckled. “Who did you think was coming?”
