S31 43. Eye for an Eye
“Actually, I have to stop following your orders because of my mother,” Ava stated.
Sophia was stunned. With wide eyes, she glanced at Frank. The man smiled faintly.
“I have someone that can watch over Ava’s mother. He’s tough
enough to defeat all the hospital security officers. You can’t stop her life support machine, Sophia.”
“I’m not that cruel.”
Frank sneered. “But you intend to stop paying for her treatment. Isn’t that the same as threatening Mrs. Connor’s life?”
Suddenly, a servant came over to Sophia. Her eyes were wide and her breathing was short.
“Miss Hall!”
After the servant whispered, Sophia immediately got up from the chair. Her eyes widened too.
“What did you do to my people?” Sophia’s tone finally rose.
“Have you ever heard of eye for an eye?” Frank replied lightly. “You gave me stimulants even though in the end, Jeremy was the one who got it. What’s wrong with me giving sedatives to your people?”
Sophia grimaced. She couldn’t imagine what chaos was happening around the truck. The guards must have collapsed and probably crushed each other.
“Miss Hall!” Another servant came. “You have to see this.”
The girl in uniform showed her phone. When Sophia looked at it, her

breath came out quickly.
Melanie’s face was back in the headlines. The comments started flooding in.
“What? This was all Sophia’s doing? She was the one who was obsessed with Frank Harper and locked Melanie in a rehab center?”
“Can someone explain to me? Doesn’t Sophia already have a husband? Why is she chasing Frank Harper?”
“What an ungrateful woman. She already has Finnic, but still seeks happiness from other men. You cheap woman!”
Sophia’s voice rose uncontrollably. “You published that video?”
Frank shrugged. “I told you, eye for an eye. You’ve cornered Kara with your video. It’s my turn to retaliate. Now we’re even.”
Sophia laughed dryly. Her gaze was cold, fixed on Frank. “How dare you ruin my good name? Aren’t you afraid of my family?”
“It’s not me, but you who is ruining your family’s good name. I’m just trying to protect my family.”
Sophia’s head shook slowly. “You’ll regret it, Frank. You’ll regret it!”
Suddenly, Sophia grabbed the walkie-talkie at the servant’s waist. With eyes full of hatred, she ordered, “Gerald, bring Mrs. Harris to me
Now!”
Sophia gripped the walkie-talkie so tightly, as if it was the last hope she had. However, after waiting a few seconds, she didn’t get any
answer.
“Gerald?” Sophia gulped, nervous. “This is not the time to joke around. Quickly carry out my orders!”
“Gerald won’t answer, Miss. He’s asleep. Maybe he’ll wake up in half an hour.”

Sophia stared wide-eyed at Ava. “You drugged him?”
As soon as Ava nodded, Sophia started to panic. Her eyes vibrated rapidly. “If Gerald is drugged, then Mrs. Harris-”
“Here.”
Sophia turned towards the voice. Seeing Melanie walking beside
Jeremy like a normal person, her feet moved backwards. “Mrs. Harris?
Π
“Yes, it’s me. Are you surprised to see me sane?” Melanie stopped in front of Sophia. Without warning, her hand flew to Sophia’s cheek.
“That’s for my son. You’ve tried to ruin his life.”
Unexpectedly, another slap landed on Sophia’s left cheek. “And that’s for me. You’ve lured me into your evil plans.”
Sophia sighed in disbelief. Her cheeks were red, hot with anger. She now realized that all this time, Melanie had been pretending to be crazy in front of her. That meant, Ava hadn’t given her an injection for a long time.
“You all tricked me? You all made me fall on purpose?” A single te
rolled out of her eye.
“We reap what we sow, Sophia.” Frank moved next to Melanie the pulled her mother back. “You have been deceived by your own lies.
“But your mother is guilty too! She hates Kara. She wants her fortune, and wishes you two would separate.”
“But not now. I’m already aware. Moreover, Kara takes great care of me every time she comes to visit. Even when I was still under the influence of drugs, she patiently took care of me. I’m ashamed that I considered her an enemy. You’re the one I should have opposed a long time ago.”

While laughing sadly, Sophia clutched her head. Then, smoothing her hair, she looked up.
“What now? Do you want to sue me? Or lock me up in a rehab center like Isabela?”
Frank shook his head faintly. “Kara asked me to be wiser. She remembered your kindness on the cruise ship, although I’m not sure if your concern was genuine. She asked me to give you a chance.”
Sophia snorted. “So it’s true? Kara is really good at deceiving. She wants me to think of her as a hero?”
“She wants you to return to the right path. Forget your envy and greed, Sophia, while it’s not too late.”
As Sophia shook her head, Frank glanced at the door. “My part is done. Now it’s your turn.”
Sophia gasped when she heard that. She turned her head. A second later, her heart jumped as if it had been struck by lightning.
