Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father novel Chapter 329

S31 72. Shaken Hope

Frank was silent for a moment. “Just focus on protecting yourself and Ava. I can take care of the rest.”

“Have you contacted Philip?”

“Yes, but I will contact him again. I think it would be better for the twins to study from home if the situation is like this.”

“What about the other?”

Silence filled the air again. “I’ll call them.”

Suddenly, Kara’s voice was heard faintly. “Frank….”

Jeremy knew the duration of his call would have to end soon. “Okay, don’t hesitate to contact me if you need help.”

After a brief mumble, Frank lowered his phone. “What’s wrong, Kara?” He tried to stay calm.

Kara handed over her phone. The chat box with Susan was open. “My mother was watching the news. She said Mrs. Miller had an accident. Her injuries were serious enough that she had to be rushed to the hospital.”

Seeing Kara’s pale face, Frank got up from the chair. Blinking uncertainly, he grasped her thin arms.

“Please don’t be surprised and don’t panic.”

Kara’s eyes suddenly widened. Her breath hitched. “What is it?”

“This isn’t about the twins. This is about Ava and Jeremy. They just had a traffic accident, but no one was seriously injured. Soon they will receive proper treatment.”

A sigh escaped Kara’s mouth quickly. Before her legs gave way, Frank sat her down in a nearby chair.

“Just calm down, okay?” Frank caressed her face. “Relax. I’ll ask Philip to take the twins home immediately. And since your mother just sent a message, that means she’s fine. We just need to raise the house security status to alert.”

While catching her breath, Kara gave a limited nod. Her eyes trembled as she listed the people she was worried about on her mind.

“What about Barbara?”

The curve of Frank’s lips suddenly turned away. “Isn’t she at home?”

Kara shook her head. “She wanted to surprise Philip. She went to survey the wedding venue alone. That’s the reason she didn’t accompany the twins to school today.”

Frank’s breath suddenly hitched, as if something was blocking his throat. However, he didn’t want to panic. As best as he could, he controlled his lungs. His hand squeezed Kara’s fingers gently.

“Let’s try to contact her. Who knows, Barbara has gone home or canceled her plan. She’s spoiled. How can she stand going anywhere alone?” he whispered.

Kara nodded, hoping Frank’s words would come true. However,

seeing his expression when he made the call, her hopes wavered. What’s wrong, Frank?”

Frank lowered the phone and blinked tensely. He couldn’t possibly lie. “Her number is not active.”

Placing a hand on his hip, Frank tried again. He was now standing with his back to Kara, in case he failed to control his expression.

Finding that Barbara’s number couldn’t be reached, Frank took a deep

breath. His eyes closed, his jaw clenched tightly. When he turned around, he grabbed Kara’s phone.

“Let me borrow it for a moment.” Without thinking twice, Frank made

a quick call.

“Mom, how are things over there?” His tone was serious. He even forgot to say hello.

“Safe. What’s wrong, Frank?”

“Is Barbara home?”

Susan was silent for a moment. “No. She left not long after you two

left.”

“How many bodyguards are with her?”

“None. She went alone.”

A huge burden suddenly fell on Frank’s shoulders. His breathing

became very heavy. “Okay, when she comes home, can you let me

know?”

“Yes.”

“And one more thing, please tell the security team to raise the statu

to alert. For the time being, no one comes in and out of the hous

“Okay, Frank. I’ll do it right away.”

After thanking Susan, Frank returned the phone to his wife. “Kara, car you help me contact Auntie? Ask her if the situation is safe, then

repeat my instructions earlier.”

Kara nodded in understanding. While she ran errands, Frank returned to his seat. Agilely, his fingers fiddled with the computer. However, no matter how many times he pressed the enter button, the red dot didn’t

appear.

“Stupid girl. I’ve warned her repeatedly to stay alert. Now she’s wandering around unsupervised?”

Frank put his hands together in front of his forehead. His eyes were closed, trying to find a solution.

“Kara, do you know where Barbara’s going?”

Kara blinked. “As far as I remember, she mentioned voting on her account. Try checking her social media. Maybe there are clues there,” Kara explained before she continued talking to Vivian.

Frank’s fingers hit with the keyboard again. Just as Kara finished calling Vivian, the printer beeped. Frank immediately got up to take

the results.

“Kara, can you help me again? Please find out which venues Barbara has visited.” He handed her the paper.

Kara nodded. “I’ll do it in my room.” She also needed a computer.

However, when she was about to leave, the door opened. A big man

came in carrying a paper bag.

“Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Harper

Frank and Kara stared wide eyed. “Sean?”

The former guard nodded with a small curve of his lips. He had indeed been more expressive since reuniting with his family.

“Sorry to interrupt your work, and sorry that I only have time now to stop by. I feel bad about turning down the invitation to the twins’ party. Therefore, I came to bring gifts for them.” He put the bag in the corner of the sofa.

With a relieved smile, Frank approached the man. “Sean, what a coincidence. I need your help.” He grabbed Sean’s strong arms.

“Help?”

Frank nodded. “You said you wanted to repay my grandfather’s kindness, right? I think this is the right moment for you to do so.”

Sean tilted his head slightly. “What can I do for you?”
