"Layla, I'll change. I won't eat alone with Aunt Natalie anymore. I won't let her come over to our house, too." Elliot promised Layla. "In the future, if she asks for my help, I won't help her."
"That's more like it!" Layla liked Elliot a little bit more.
"Avery, I also hope that in the future, if there is anything, you will tell me about it first," said Elliot after he was satisfied with his progress with Layla. So, he turned his attention to Avery, who was on her phone." For example, a week ago, you knew that I was the one who had helped Natalie buy the set of jewelry that you wanted. You could have told me about it first. No matter how you yell at me, as long as you tell me what happened, I will thank you." Avery never thought that he would suddenly talk to her. He even had a look that demanded justice.
"You were helping Natalie to buy something, why should I contact you?" She asked in return.
"If you don't tell me, how would I know that I have helped someone take away something that you wanted? Do you think, I feel better after finding out the truth?" He looked at her with darkened eyes. "Avery, Natalie and I are just colleagues, I won't deliberately make you and the children angry because of her."
He had clearly explained his relationship with Natalie. Now it was Avery's problem if she wanted to continue using that as an excuse.
"Does Natalie know that you're so eagerly clarifying your relationship with her in front of us?" Avery could not help but tease him.
"I don't know or care if she knows or not, but you seem to care a lot about my private life," he teased her in return.
Avery's expressions instantly changed. " You're full of yourself."
"Avery, I heard that you got a doctoral degree." Elliot went with the flow and chatted with her. "Did you also look for a young boyfriend?"
"You're nosy."
