"Mr. Foster, don't you feel sorry for this baby? If you don't want him, I guess I will just send him to an orphanage." Feeling as though she was freezing, the woman intended to leave with the child, as she gambled on the chance that Elliot would not have the heart to abandon a baby.
"Stop right there!" Elliot roared. "Who handed you this baby? Did she say anything else apart from asking you to deliver the baby?"
The woman stopped. "She didn't say anything else! She just said that you would pay me if I delivered the baby here. Had I known that this is how you all would be treating me, I wouldn't have come. I'm just a milk delivery worker. I don't know anything else."
Elliot was speechless.
The bodyguard noticed the troubled look on his face and said, "Mr. Foster, just let her leave!"
The bodyguard knew that Avery would never allow the baby to stay and would likely still be furious even if the baby was sent away.
This was proof that Elliot had been cheating on Avery, and any woman would be livid.
Though Elliot was a powerful man, Avery's children would all be on her side, so she had nothing to fear from Elliot.
"If I let her leave, how am I supposed to prove that I'm innocent?" Elliot asked as he reached for the baby.
The woman moved away and put her hand out to ask for money. "Mr. Foster, I came all the way here to deliver your child to you, so you ought to at least pay me, right? Besides, the taxi fee to get here is quite high..." the woman said.
Elliot did not move and simply shot the bodyguard a look.
The bodyguard immediately took out his wallet. "How much do you want?!"
