"Mr. Tate, we don't have to meet." Shelly did not want to meet Hayden in person as she was worried that she might not be able to lie.

"You are contacting me because of the baby, right?" Shelly said. "I did get someone to deliver the baby to you. I'm poor and can't afford to raise a child, so I figured he will be better off with you."

"She said that she is poor and has no money to raise the baby, so she sent the baby to us," Hayden repeated what Shelly had said. "I am going to meet with her and give her some money to end this fiasco."

"How much are you going to pay her?" Avery asked.

"I will get her to name a price," Hayden said, not knowing what was the appropriate amount in this scenario.

"And if she doesn't want to? She would have asked for money a long time ago if that's what she wants." Avery wanted Hayden to be prepared.
