His Eagle Eyes on Me novel Chapter 2939

"Today?" Shelly asked.

"Yeah. Today," Hayden said sternly.

"Mr. Tate, we don't have to meet." Shelly did not want to meet Hayden in person as she was worried that she might not be able to lie.

After all, a man like Hayden had seen enough people to tell when he was being lied to.

"You are contacting me because of the baby, right?" Shelly said. "I did get someone to deliver the baby to you. I'm poor and can't afford to raise a child, so I figured he will be better off with you."

"Why did you give birth to him if that's the case?" Hayden questioned. "Just so that you can deliver him to me without getting anything in return?"

Shelly blushed.

Hayden's tone was confronting and harsh, and she was thankful that she did not have to face him directly.

"It's not that... People are complicated, and they might feel differently at different times. I wanted to get rid of the baby at first but didn't have the courage to go through an abortion. After some delay, I was too far along to go through an abortion. I found out that I was having a boy and didn't want him to suffer with me, so I sent him to your parents," Shelly explained.

"So, you really don't want anything in return?" Hayden asked.

"What happened between us was an accident, Mr. Tate. You don't have to feel like you owe me anything." Shelly wanted him to cast all concerns aside and leave her alone.

"Don't you have any feelings for your own son? Do you really intend to stay away from him for the rest of your life?" Hayden asked.

He could not believe that a woman could be so heartless, nor did it make sense for a heartless woman to be afraid of getting an abortion.

Shelly fell silent.

She knew that she should tell him that she would stay away for the rest of her life but could not make a single sound.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Hayden mocked. "Why won't you meet with me? What are you so afraid of?"

"I'm not afraid. I'm just busy," Shelly said. "I'm working in a cafe, and it's peak hour right now."
