"Her family might, indeed, oppose, but she'll probably insist on being with you. Can't you see that she's quite determined? She came all the way here just to find you. That alone proves she's no ordinary girl," Caspian said.
"She's definitely not an ordinary girl, but I'm quite ordinary."
Caspian clicked his tongue. "What's wrong? Are you feeling inferior now? Lucas, from what I remember, you're not that kind of person. Besides, we have a major investment now, so we're not poor anymore! Once this investment comes through, you'll be a rather accomplished entrepreneur. Even if Ivy's family is wealthy, they won't look down on you."
Lucas picked up the contract. "This investment has something to do with Ivy."
Caspian was stunned. "What are you talking about? That's impossible!"
"Why? Do you really think we're impressive enough to attract this big foreign investment?"
Caspian's expression changed drastically. "What makes you think Ivy's family is that wealthy? She seems pretty down-to-earth to me!"
Lucas did not want to keep arguing with Caspian; whether Ivy's family was wealthy and how wealthy they were had nothing to do with him.
Meanwhile, in Aryadelle, Ivy had had a restful night and woke up full of energy.
Since Hayden and Shelly's wedding was approaching and most of the preparations were done, Ivy arrived at the venue with her parents after breakfast.
Hayden and Shelly's wedding was taking place on an island. After taking a speedboat to the island, Ivy was immediately captivated by the breathtaking scenery.
"This place is so beautiful! I've never been here before."
Avery chuckled. "Indeed. I think I know more about Lucas than our own family right now. Things concerning our family are too complicated."
Each of her children had their own careers, and Avery did not have the energy to look into the details of what they were all doing in life.
"There's more to family background when searching for a partner, right?" Ivy said.
"If your dad and I only focused on Lucas' family background, you wouldn't have been allowed to stay in Taronia," Avery said.
Ivy beamed. "I knew you would spoil me rotten. I will test him again the next time I go to Taronia. If he is willing to come to Aryadelle with me, I will bring him here to meet you."
"Hayden is testing him, right? Let's just wait and see if he can get past Hayden," Avery said.
