Having been made to feel slighted by Byron's inappropriate advances, Nydia didn’t dare to confide in her father or her elder brother. With a flushed face holding back tears, she hurriedly left the bustling banquet hall.
As she moved through the crowd, she was bumped by a waiter.
Suddenly, she felt a sting on her arm, like the prick of a bee, but the pain quickly faded.
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, Miss," the waiter quickly apologized.
"It's okay."
Nydia didn't think much of the incident and quickly walked away.
The waiter watched her leaving, with a smirk on his face.
The evening breeze gently ruffled Nydia's soft hair, as she stood alone on a deserted balcony, gazing at the chilling moonlight and quietly wiping away her tears.
If only Jason were here, he wouldn’t have let her suffer the slightest grievance or injustice.
But she had made up her mind to endearingly let go; from now on, Jason would no longer be a part of her life.
So, should she make one last call to him, to say everything that needed to be said, to bring closure to it all?
After much contemplation, Nydia, enduring the acute pain in her heart, tremblingly turned on her phone.
The signal connected. And in an instant, countless missed call alerts and messages flooded her screen.
Jason had never stopped trying to reach her. His every word was filled with deep emotion.
Nydia clutched at the stifling ache in her chest, where her heart seemed to be broken into pieces. She bit her lips bitten until they bled, unable to stop the steady stream of tears.
"Jason. I don't want to be apart from you."
Suddenly, her tear-blurred vision darkened, and her body swayed dangerously, and she began to falter.
"Nydia, what's wrong?"
A voice of concern reached her. Nydia’s mind was muddled, and buzzing noises filled her ears.
The next moment, she was harshly pulled by someone into a tight embrace.
She could even feel the intrusive hand caressing her shoulder inappropriately.
"Who are you, Don't touch me!"
Nydia’s body shivered, and although she tried to struggle, she found herself without the strength to do so, her eyes filling with tears of panic.
"Heh, don't be nervous, relax," the man said with a sinister laugh, his lips brushing against the cheek he'd long coveted. "I'll take good care of you."
Meanwhile, Cassius acted as President K, playing the role of negotiator amongst the privileged elites.
While he was still mingling with the guests, a bodyguard who had been following Ms. Nydia came running over, sweating profusely, and pulled Cassius aside.
"Bad news, President Ashbourne. Ms. Nydia is missing!"
Cassius felt his heart tightened with worry, his handsome face darkened. "How could that be? With such high security here, and you tailing her every move, how could my sister just disappear?"
"She was within our sight at first. Nydia was sitting there talking to Byron."
Byron?
Cassius had a sudden ominous feeling, and his eyebrows furrowed.
The bodyguard, panic-stricken and wiping sweat, said incoherently, "But then a crowd passed by from the dance floor, and suddenly she disappeared! Byron is gone too!"
"Idiot!" Cassius's eyes blazed with fury, his noble visage distorted with anger.
The bodyguard, terrified, was so weak in the knees that he almost knelt, "President Ashbourne, we'll start searching right away!"
Cassius's temples throbbed with a visible vein, his voice hoarse with contained rage, "Search in the shadows, and don't alert Chairman Emeric just yet—no need to worry him. If my sister isn't found before the banquet ends, consider what your fates will be!"
The Ashbourne family's bodyguards scattered, combing through the castle in a sweeping search.
Cassius was in no mood for pleasantries and promptly set out to search.
Nydia might not be his blood sister, but as the eldest brother, he felt almost a paternal responsibility. He couldn't just stand idly by!
He couldn't bear to tell Evadne, either; with her fiery temper, she might well turn William and his son's entire party upside down in her frenzy!
Nydia, please be safe!
His footsteps echoed urgently down the hallways. Cassius, his face beaded with sweat, he dialed Nydia's number while running.
Her phone rang but was not answered.
Suddenly, Cassius came to an abrupt stop when he faintly heard a familiar ringtone.
His heart pounding, he followed the sound to the balcony.
There, Nydia's phone lay abandoned on the ground, the screen displaying the word—"Big Brother."
"Nydia! Where are you? Nydia!"
Cassius shouted from the balcony, but there was no reply.
"Big Brother, how can Nydia disappear just like that?"
Evadne and Thaddeus rushed over, followed by an injured Jason, "This place is under tight security, and we have records of all guests. How can Nydia just vanish? I don't buy it! She must be somewhere in this castle, she couldn't have left this place!"
Jason’s anxiety was aflame within him, his tears mingling with blood from his wounded eye. He was neared the brink of breakdown.
"It's all my fault, I was too careless!" Cassius exclaimed, punching his fists against the railing in self-reproach.
"Nydia will be alright. No one would dare harm the daughter of Chairman Emeric while he's in attendance, not unless they're tired of living," Thaddeus said, grasping Evadne's trembling shoulders, his thin lips set in determination. "Since we found the phone here, let’s start by checking the surveillance footage nearby."
Cassius's eyes were red with anger, "I'll send someone to get it right away!"
"Too slow! The more time we waste, the more danger Nydia faces!"
Evadne clenched her jaw, beads of sweat on her forehead. "Big Brother, get me a high-performance computer. I'll hack into the system myself! Forget about mere surveillance—I can bring the whole castle's security network down if I have to."
Cassius and Jason had been too tense to remember—
The young lady was a first-class hacker, her skills trained by the legendary agent Elvis; she was not to be underestimated!
Thaddeus stared at her, with a surge of intense admiration in his eyes:
His woman was nothing short of divine.
