His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 545

Sirens wailed as police cruisers and ambulances converged in front of the aging apartment complex.

The residents, having heard whispers of a vicious break-in, huddled together, anxiety etched on their faces as they watched the scene unfold.

Aaron, unable to sit back idly, had his team take the perpetrator back to the station while he followed the ambulance to the hospital to ensure Gordon and Beverly were safe. He also made a point to call Evadne and Thaddeus, letting them know what had happened.

On the ambulance, Beverly, who had been on the brink of suffocating, was now pale, the alarming purple hue fading from her cheeks as she lay wearing an oxygen mask.

"Ms. Higgins, you gotta pull through," Gordon implored, his face a patchwork of bruises, paying no mind to his own injuries as he clutched her limp hand in his.

"She's stable for now, her vitals are holding steady. Don't worry," Aaron said soothingly, trying to offer some comfort.

It was clear that Gordon's concern for the girl ran deep, and it wasn't just because she was a key witness against Byron.

"Aaron, what are you doing here?" Gordon asked, his thoughts settling after the initial shock.

"Evadne thought it was a pretty big deal having Beverly testify, especially since she's a minor. She figured her guardians should be notified. She sent me to check on Beverly and her mom while also convincing Beverly's mother to cooperate with us. After all, the police carry more weight than just a neighbor," Aaron explained, his handsome features shadowed by concern as he thought about the close call. "Who would have thought we'd run into this mess tonight? Seems like someone's getting impatient."

Gordon was stunned.

He had been sent by Thaddeus, and Aaron was dispatched by Evadne.

Their thoughts and actions were eerily aligned!

"By the way, this is for you."

Gordon reached into his dirty slacks, his hand trembling from pain, and handed Aaron a butterfly knife, "You forgot this."

Touched by Gordon's concern despite his own pain, Aaron accepted the knife, "Thanks, Gordon, really, I owe you one."

"I remember Mrs. Abernathy has one just like it."

"Yeah, Evadne and I both received one from Cassius," Aaron said, a fond memory lighting up his eyes. "He's like a knife wizard to us. He's better with blades than Elvis is with his guitar. When we were kids, while other brothers played games with their siblings, ours played with knives. He loved crafting and collecting them, had over a thousand in his collection alone."

Gordon felt a chill down his spine, sweat beading at his nose.

He vowed to remind Thaddeus, once he was firmly part of the family, that arguments were to be avoided at all costs; words, chosen carefully. Thaddeus had to be cautious.

"Cassius saw that Evadne and I had a knack for knife play, so he not only taught us everything he knew but also gifted us each with a butterfly knife," Aaron continued, smiling more broadly as he admired the elegant knife. "Evadne's better with it than I am. I usually don't show it off, and I'd hate to use it. But tonight was an emergency, and firing a gun in a residential area would have caused more trouble and chaos. Thankfully, I wasn't too rusty."

Gordon's jaw hung open, as if dislocated.

Aaron said he was not as skilled as Evadne with the knife, so that made her a beautiful monster!

Ashbourne Hospital.
