"But in my heart," Cassius continued, his voice thick with emotion, "you two, along with Suri, have always been my mothers. You raised us. You loved us. My only regret is that I won't be around to take care of you the way you deserve. Please forgive me for that."
Overwhelmed, Cassius stepped forward, bowing his head deeply as if to convey the absolute depth of his gratitude. Chasel instantly mirrored the gesture, but Myra and Aviana rushed forward, pulling both men into a fierce, tearful embrace.
"You good boy... we know what's in your heart," Aviana said, forcing a radiant smile through her tears. "But to us, your father's true wife has always been your mother. No matter how many years pass, no one could ever replace her. We're just here to stand in her stead, to look after you kids and your father. Go on, don't worry about us. We'll hold the fort down here."
"Don't forget about us, man! We've got things covered," Arnold chimed in, fighting back his own tears as he pulled his older brother into a bone-crushing hug. "We'll just fly over and crash at your place whenever we miss you and Chasel. You better have the good liquor waiting!"
Standing toward the back of the crowd, Elvis watched the exchange, his eyes growing suspiciously bright.
Years ago, furious over his father's remarriages, he had stormed out of the house, dragging Evadne into his rebellion. But the truth was, during all his years drifting around the world, he had missed this family desperately. He had never forgotten the kindness the three women had shown him. He had let go of his resentment a long time ago, even if he wasn't the type to get sappy and say it out loud.
"Cassius..." Emeric's raspy voice broke through the chatter.
"Right here, Dad." Cassius immediately moved to his father's side, crouching down in front of the wheelchair to meet the older man at eye level. He offered a gentle smile to the titan who had spent a lifetime shielding his children from the world. It was because of Emeric's relentless support that they had the freedom and confidence to conquer their own paths.
"Cassius... I'm sorry," Emeric choked out, tears spilling down his weathered cheeks. "I couldn't protect you."
