The night was as dark as ink, with the moon peering over treetops.
Returning to the mansion, Thaddeus retreated to his study to handle corporate affairs, while Evadne took a solitary bath. After a quick skincare routine, without even bothering to blow-dry her hair, she stood pensively by the window, lost in thought as the breeze caressed her face.
She mulled over Chad's words, savoring each syllable.
The man was an enigma.
She prided herself on being adept at reading people. When Avery had showered her with attention, perfecting the art of charm, she had deftly peeled away his facade of deceit.
Yet, with Chad, she sensed no malice, only warmth and refinement, as soothing as a gentle breeze.
What truly amazed her was that he had personally tested a medication for Marilla.
Even if his motives weren't entirely pure, the risk he took was monumental.
Evadne furrowed her brows, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts.
Chad, what kind of person are you.
Suddenly, a hug filled with fiery tenderness enveloped her from behind, arms wrapping tightly around her waist.
"Hey, lazy kitten, didn't feel like drying your hair while I was away, huh?"
Thaddeus had appeared behind her at some point, his chiseled chin resting on her shoulder, his warm breath against her neck, flushing her pale skin, "If you catch a cold, it'll hurt me as much as it hurts you."
"When did you get here? You scared me." Evadne's voice was soft, a playful smile on her lips as she wriggled in his embrace like a cozy little cat.
"What's got you so lost in thought?" He whispered, his lips grazing her earlobe.
"I was thinking about your brother."
Her gaze still distant, the words slipped out before she could think.
Thaddeus felt his heart drop from tenderness to thorns, his initially gentle kiss turned into a bite, almost as if he was punishing her.
"Ouch, that hurts. Ah!"
Suddenly, Evadne found herself being forcefully turned around to face him, her jaw captured in his grasp, her eyes meeting his deep gaze.
Her cheeks flushed with the heat of his stare, leaving her feeling weak at the knees.
"Evadne, just now, who did you say you were thinking about?" Thaddeus' voice was ragged with emotion.
"You know that's not what I meant, mmph!"
His fervent kiss silenced her protest, overwhelming and invasive.
The intensity of Thaddeus' affections left Evadne breathless with a mixture of pain and pleasure. Pinned against the balcony railing, she couldn't move.
She realized Thaddeus was different tonight, bordering on madness, and it unnerved her.
But before she could process her thoughts, she was consumed by his passionate embrace, her rose-colored silk robe slipping down her smooth back, caught at their entwined waists.
Under the silver moonlight, her alabaster body unfolded like the tender center of a blooming flower against his heated chest.
The last thread of Thaddeus' restraint snapped.
He roughly caressed her with calloused hands, claiming her with fervor.
"No! I've just bathed." Evadne arched her neck, pleasure and pain intermingling.
"We'll bathe again, I'll help you."
Thaddeus' grip on her was unyielding, his white shirt pristine, his trousers already discarded.
With urgency, he joined with her, their union fierce and unrelenting.
Tears of sensation glistened in Evadne's eyes as she clung to his neck, her delicate form shaking.
The cool night breeze contrasted with their fiery coupling, both tantalizing and torturous.
"Thaddeus, I'm cold."
Her body was slick with sweat, yet her lips quivered, her eyes pleading with his wild gaze, "Let's go to bed. Can we go to bed, please?"
"Do you still think of him? Do you?" Thaddeus' eyes were bloodshot, his movements relentless as he sought an answer.
He was consumed by jealousy.
He had endured the torment all night since he saw Evadne with Chad, his soul writhing within its cold shell.
He remembered how he had smiled falsely in front of his brother, speaking insincere words.
God knows how much he wanted to snatch Evadne away at that moment, to hide her so deep that Chad couldn't look at her again!
Evadne was his, and his alone.
"I don't anymore." Evadne's voice broke into sobs.
They had been together for so long, and never had Thaddeus been so indifferent, never had he made her feel so wretched.
"Evadne, you're mine. Don't look at him anymore, only look at me!"
It was only after reaching the peak of their passion that Thaddeus carried his now pliant lover back to their room.
On the bed, he desired her again, but Evadne trembled, weakly slapping his cheek with a tearful plea,
"Stop, no more, you're bullying me. I hate you tonight!"
It was a hit without pain, more like a caress.
But it was enough to awaken the man drowning in jealousy and desire.
