The elderly woman eyed Amara from top to bottom and scoffed.

"I could tell it was you from a mile away."

"So why did you approach me?" Amara carried her chin high as she asked, refusing to keep her head low like she had in the past.

“Mother, stop.” Fiona tried to calm the elderly woman, much to Amara’s surprise.

She glanced in Fiona’s direction with narrowed eyes, only to have the little witch avoid eye contact.

“Shut up, Fiona,” Giselle scolded her daughter, having expected her to back her up. “And you, I’m warning you, if you’ve come here to steal someone’s husband, I won’t hesitate to expose you and tell everyone what a horrible wife you were to my son.”

Amara scoffed at her warning.

A horrible wife? She had done so much, did and endured things that wife’s weren’t naturally meant to endure, and yet, Giselle dared to say she was a horrible wife.
