Chapter 3
I forced myself to bear the heartache and opened the chat history.
In the dialogue box, there were thousands of photos, densely packed.
All of them were photos of Edward with the children.
In a moment of reverie, I remembered when Anthony was just born, and I suggested taking a family
photo.
He, however, casually brushed me off.
“Anthony is still so young, why take a family photo now? Let’s wait until he grows up!”
I naively thought that he didn’t like taking photos, so I dared to take advantage of his deep sleep and secretly took a group photo with the child by his side.
Now I know that he didn’t dislike taking photos.
Just didn’t like my child, that’s all.
The fingertips trembled as they glided over those photos.

But accidentally stumbled upon a vi
ht before his birthday party.
My son was being bullied by Selena’s child, who was pinning him down.
In the video, Selena cried out in extreme distress.
“Edward, Melanie’s son would already fight back at such a young age. Who knows how he would treat our children when he grows up!”
“What should I do? I’m so worried!”
I was trembling all over, and I could hardly hold onto my phone.
My son, who had done nothing wrong, had his life ruined because of a single sentence from Selena.
I bit my lip hard, restraining the surging hatred.
Such a man was so dirty and disgusting, I didn’t want him anymore.
My heart turned completely cold, I threw away my phone and called my mentor who is far away in
another country.
Please ask him to help me contact hospitals that can provide rehabilitation training.
When Edward returned to the ward, I had just booked plane tickets for myself and Anthony three days later.

He didn’t notice my swollen red eyes from crying, he just excitedly grabbed me,
“Melanie, tomorrow I wanted to organize a birthday banquet for Anthony again.”
“By then, I will announce the adoption of our child, okay?”
I was stunned for a moment, then I immediately remembered the note I had just seen in his phone
calendar.
Tomorrow is the birthday of their child, him and Selena.
I didn’t say anything, I just nodded with a calm face.
Since we are about to leave soon, let’s take it as a proper farewell.
The next day, approaching noon, Edward finally sent someone to pick me up from the hospital.
As soon as I stepped into the hotel, a scene in front of me stabbed my eyes.
Selena Parrish was wearing a couture gown, and she was holding hands with Edward as they welcomed guests with their child.
And my Anthony, was casually thrown on the ground, covered in mud.
He couldn’t be bothered to look at Anthony even once.
Nature also didn’t notice that Anthony was picking up half a cookie that someone had thrown away and putting it into his mouth.
I instantly turned red–eyed and rushed over to pick up the child.
Before I could even question, Edward grabbed my arm and pulled me into the lounge.
“Melanie, many important figures have arrived today. Given Anthony’s current condition, I’m afraid he might get scared. It would be better for you all to rest here first!”
Even though he tried to hide it, I still saw the contempt revealed in his eyes.
I glanced outside the door and on the electronic screen in the lobby, they were playing a series of photos of him and Selena’s child.
In the middle of the stage, there were many valuable gifts piled up.
Nothing was for Anthony.
Even the name on the giant cake was not Anthony’s.
Edward followed my gaze and only then realized how out of line he had been.
He held me and awkwardly explained.

“Melanie, don’t misunderstand. Selena couldn’t bear to part with the child. I did all this to reassure her and make her feel comfortable handing the child over to us.”
I pulled the corners of my mouth, but I couldn’t manage to smile.
He wanted to say something more, but Selena’s son burst in and hugged his leg.
“Dad, didn’t you say you prepared a lot of gifts for me? Take me to see them quickly.”
Edward never looked at me and Anthony again, he just picked him up with a doting expression on his face and left straight away.
