Chapter 1
When I was experiencing morning sickness, Tyrell Klein was playing a game of tying cherry stems
into knots with his female assistant Lucia Kirk at a party.
Even as I vomited until my stomach bled, Tyrell was still with Lucia, leaving me all alone.
On the way home, we got into a car accident.
I had just been lifted onto the stretcher when Tyrell coldly pulled me down, saying, “Get to the hospital on your own!”
After speaking, he lifted the frightened assistant onto a stretcher.
When they arrived at the hospital, everyone was rushing Lucia into the emergency room.
I quietly walked up to the gynecology desk and said, “Hi, I need to schedule an abortion. The baby in my belly… I don’t want it.”

As soon as I changed into surgical attire, Tyrell burst into the room in a fit of anger.
He threw a red string at my face and said, “Lailah Cooley, don’t give me this unlucky thing!”
Tyrell didn’t believe anything else could protect him.
Even the peace amulet I had begged for on my knees a thousand times was sneered at by him and thrown into the fire.
Picking up the red string on my body, I calmly said, “It wasn’t from me.”
Upon hearing this, the man immediately snatched back the red rope and eagerly put it on his wrist.
I knew that the red string was given by Lucia.
It meant she could be with Tyrell for the rest of their lives.
With this thought in mind, I grabbed the man’s hand.
In his contemptuous and guarded gaze, I tightly tied the loose knot for him.
My cold fingertips made Tyrell slightly distracted.
He asked me why I was wearing a patient’s gown.
I casually replied, “I’m having a minor surgery later.”
Tyrell frown and was about to scold me for pretending to be sick.

The next second, the nurse came in to draw blood for me.
He was about to ask the nurse what was wrong, with me when his phone rang, at that very moment.
It was a video call from Lucia,
She whimpered, “The hospital at night is so scary!”
Upon hearing the words, Tyrell didn’t even glance at me and swiftly walked away.
The nurse was bumped by him, causing the needle to skew and blood to spill out.
Upon hearing my painful moan, Tyrell did not turn around.
At that moment, the doctor walked in with the surgical consent form.
Ignoring all risk warnings, I signed my name without hesitation.
Half an hour later, the surgery was successful.
As soon as I got off the operating table, I received a message from Tyrell: “Wait for me at the hospital entrance.”
Outside the door, heavy snow was falling. Clad in thin clothing, I sat on a plastic stool, waiting for a
full two hours.
Tyrell didn’t appear.
Two nurses walked past me, chatting and laughing about their experiences in the ER. “After all these years, I haven’t seen a guy who spoils his wife like that,” one said.
“Yeah, exactly! Not only did he hold and comfort her through the entire check–up, and when they found just a red mark on her leg, he didn’t hesitate to call a helicopter to get her to a top hospital.”
When I heard this, I opened the chat and saw that Tyrell had changed his profile picture.
It was Nick from the cartoons, wearing sunglasses.
Lucia had set a picture of Judy. A perfect match for his.
I closed WhatsApp and opened the ticket booking app.
Due to the weather conditions, the earliest flight for me to return home was two
later.
I placed an order, made a payment, and confirmed the ticket.
