Chapter 4
Watching the raviolis roll on the ground for a few rounds, Maeve lifted her head and gave him at deep look.
Donte, only then did he realize his mistake and awkwardly tried to explain himself.
“The aunt at home never bought seafood. I have told her several times, as she said.”
After speaking, he dared not look at her expression anymore and turned aside to peel the shrimp.
Phoebe leaned in close to his car, lowering her voice.
I don’t know what was said, but Donte’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he let go of what he was holding and pulled her away from the scene.
Maeve didn’t care where they went.
She didn’t get up to go to the bathroom until the bouquet ceremony was over.
Just as she reached the door, she heard a continuous banging sound coming from inside.
She stopped in her tracks and held her breath.
After a few minutes of silence, a deep male voice came from the innermost compartment.
“Why are you dressed so provocatively to attend the wedding?”
“Don’t you like it?”
After a soft pant, a light laughter followed.
“Of course, nature was loved.”
Maeve lifted her head and looked at the sign above her, pressing her fingers deeply into her palm.
The corridor was filled with continuous footsteps, while the bathroom regained its tranquility.
She took one last look at the closed compartment door, her eyes red, and turned away.
At three o’clock in the afternoon, the wedding ended.
After saying goodbye to her best friend, Maeve went downstairs.
As she stepped out of the elevator, she saw the familiar sports car parked on the road.
She pretended not to see and was about to hail a taxi when Phoebe, who appeared out of nowhere,
grabbed her hand.
Chapter 4
“The company had some matters, so Donte left first and left the car for me. Since we live close by, shall I give you a ride?”
Maeve didn’t even think about it and refused.
Phoebe, however, disregarded everything, and forcefully pushed her into the passenger seat, locked the car door, and stepped on the gas pedal.
She drove fast, and Maeve could only fasten her seatbelt.
Along the way, Phoebe kept boasting, both openly and subtly, under the pretext of chatting about everyday life.
“You already knew that Donte was pretending to have amnesia, right? Why didn’t you dare to make it clear?”
Maeve’s eyes froze for a moment, with a cold expression on her face.
“It had nothing to do with you.
“How is it not related to me? I also really want to stand by Donte’s side openly and become his fiancée. Although he doesn’t have that intention now, but you also know, he really likes my body, sooner or later he will be moved, do you believe it?”
Maeve completely ignored her, turning to look at the scenery outside the window.
Seeing that she didn’t respond, Phoebe felt frustrated and taunted her a few more times.
Maeve simply closed her eyes and pretended she didn’t exist.
Phoebe was very annoyed by this indifferent attitude.
She looked at the turning intersection ahead, made up her mind, and abruptly turned the steering
wheel, crashing into it.
“Bang
Under the strong vibration, Maeve leaned forward uncontrollably.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw the glass shards coming towards her face, instinctively raising her hand to protect herself.
Fresh crimson blood dripped down from her arm.
She bumped into the side door, feeling a sharp pain on her head, and everything went black in front
