Chapter 8
After that day, I never paid attention to any news about Edward again.
To me, he was just a familiar stranger.
But I never expected that I would meet him again.
Three months later, I, as usual, took Anthony to rehabilitation training.
While waiting for the red light, I unintentionally lifted my eyes and met Edward’s complex gaze.
He stood across the street, with red eyes, watching me and Anthony.
There was deep love in the eyes, along with some emotions that I couldn’t understand.
I hugged Anthony tightly, without hesitation, turned around, and walked in the opposite direction.
I heard his heart–wrenching cries from behind.
“Melanie, please don’t go!”
I ignored it and quickened my pace, wanting to escape.
Until a piercing screech of brakes exploded in my ears.
I turned around, as if my heart was about to stop.

Edward collapsed in a pool of blood.
I saw him, with blood all over his face, struggling to force a smile.
“Melanie, I finally saw you and Anthony again!”
“Only after you left did I realize what I truly cared about. I’m sorry to you, and even more sorry to Anthony. Can you please forgive me?”
I trembled all over, hesitated for a long time, but still walked up to him with Anthony.
He struggled to get up, wanting to hug me and Anthony.
I instinctively dodged and whispered softly in his ear with only a hint of pity.
Anthony and I had a great time together. You don’t have to come anymore in the future, and we don’t want to see you again!
He collapsed weakly to the ground, covering his face and crying out in pain.

Edward didn’t die, but he could never stand up again.
The doctor announced that he would be paralyzed in bed for the rest of his life, and I went to see him for the last time with Harry by my side.
None of us spoke, we just silently stared at each other.
But both understood that they would never see each other again in this lifetime.
To my surprise, he entrusted a lawyer to redraft a divorce agreement.
All the assets were transferred to my name.
After receiving the news,
news, I called him and asked him how he could make such a decision.
He remained silent for a long time before answering me hoarsely.
“Melanie, I made a mistake and caused irreparable harm to you and Anthony.”
During this period, I was constantly filled with regret. I knew that no matter what I did, you would
never come back to me. However, I couldn’t allow myself to do nothing.
“I have nothing left anymore, so consider this money as my only compensation to you.”
I didn’t say anything more, sighed lightly, and hung up the phone.
I did not keep this money for myself, but instead established a welfare enterprise in the name of
Anthony.
Special positions were provided specifically for individuals like him with cerebral palsy.
In order to thank me, the rehabilitation hospital specifically waived all expenses for Anthony.
I did not refuse, but accepted this kindness willingly.
Without the support of money and status, Edward’s paralyzed days were not easy.
He was sent to a sanatorium, but he didn’t even receive the most basic respect.
The caregiver despised him for not having money and lacking family support, and treated him recklessly.
He was tormented to the point of wishing for death, but he stubbornly kept on living.
I knew he couldn’t let go of Anthony.
And the only thing I could do to help him was to accompany Anthony’s recovery with even more

effort.
Luckily, Anthony was not afraid of hard work.
The daily training was quite effective.
Originally, it was thought that he could only recover to the point of being able to take care of
himself.
But little did he know that he had a great talent in terms of colors.
With my support, he was sent to an art training class.
After a while, the works he painted even amazed the teacher.
At the age of seven, he even won the grand prize in a painting competition.
I cried until I lost my voice offstage.
No one knew that my body was already at its last breath.
The lifespan of an artificial heart is only five years, and I don’t have much time left.
Harry ran around everywhere to find a new heart for me.
I watched him gradually become haggard, and I was even more saddened to the extreme.
In the last month of my life countdown, the hospital called.
Someone told me that they donated their heart to me.
Harry didn’t tell me the truth until the heart transplant surgery was successful.
The person who donated their heart to me was Edward.
On the day Anthony won the award, his condition suddenly took a turn for the worse.
Before falling into a coma, he managed to get in touch with Harry through someone and expressed his last wish before dying.
Give me back my heart.
On the day of discharge, I closed my eyes and touched my chest.
When I opened my eyes again, there was only a smile on my face.
Since the past cannot be undone, let it be that way, watching Anthony grow up.

It is also possible.
On Anthony’s eighth birthday, I received a video.
