Chapter 1
After being played by the Marquez brothers for three days, Lilyana Fitzgerald arrived at the Marquez family with bruises all over her body.
“Sir Marquez, Madam Marquez, I have made my decision. My chosen partner for marriage is Mr. Graham Marquez.”
Kiara Marquez was very surprised and exclaimed, “Lilyana, did you make a mistake? Graham is the uncle of those three boys!”
Lilyana had no idea either, but she had no other choice.
She clenched her dress hem, forced a faint smile, and gathered the courage to explain, “Madam Marquez, the alliance between Fitzgerald and Marquez families does not necessarily have to be chosen among the three siblings, Branden, Braxton, and Deven, right?”
“They don’t like me, and I don’t want to force them anymore, Madam Marquez. Please, please help
me ask Mr. Graham if he is willing to marry
me!”
As she spoke, her eyes were filled with pleading.
Kiara noticed her expression and let out a deep sigh.
After exchanging a glance with Lennon Marquez, she slowly said, “Graham is currently on a business trip abroad. I call and ask him. Don’t worry, my dear.”
Lilyana felt anxious and uneasy.
As she heard the sound of the phone dialing, she felt heart racing.
“Mother?”
After the call was connected, Graham’s distant and calm voice came through.
After Kiara briefly explained the situation, there was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone.
In the few seconds of waiting, Lilyana suffered in her heart, her mind went blank, and she could hardly hear what was being said on the other end of the phone.
After a long time, Kiara smiled gently and nodded.
“Graham agreed. So, let’s quickly set a wedding date for our two families and get married soon.”
Lilyana’s heart shook greatly, and after a moment, a smile appeared on her face as she nodded

heavily.
She walked back, and her heart continued to beat rapidly.
A big stone in her heart suddenly moved away, and she felt a great sense of relief.
After taking a few deep breaths and calming down, she dialed her parents‘ phone number.
“Dad, Mom, my prospective partner has changed to Mr. Graham.”
Her parents were surprised, but then quickly regained their composure and said in a cold tone, “It’s good to make the change. Graham holds a higher position and has more influence than the three sons of the Marquez family. Let us know the date once it’s set, and we will come to attend the
wedding on that day.”
With two beeps, the phone hung up, leaving Lilyana with only a desolate home.
Her parents have always been indifferent to her, placing great importance on the interests of the company. They are frequently away on business trips, and she has become extremely accustomed to this business–like atmosphere.
The Fitzgerald family and the Marquez family were close friends and have been the leading families in Lakewich. They have had a strong alliance since their ancestors, with a prearranged
marriage.
Lilyana could not resist, as the only girl in the Fitzgerald family of her generation, she could only
accept it.
She grew up with the three brothers, Branden, Braxton, and Deven. Since childhood, her parents had told her that she would eventually marry one of them.
So she tried her best to approach them, be nice to them, and make them like her more.
Even five years ago, she risked her life to save them in the nationwide earthquake, but she herself was badly injured and almost lost her life.
But they still treated her indifferently, only because they liked Violet Carlson, the daughter of the Marquez family’s maid.
Therefore, they were unwilling to marry her and even more disgusted with the marriage contract that was bound to them.
It is ridiculous that they said the reason they liked Violet was because she saved them in the earthquake.

But it was Lilyana who have saved them!
As she approached the age of 24, the agreed–upon time for their marriage was drawing near. Lilyana spoke the truth more than once, but they not only refused to believe her but also grew more
disgusted with her due to Violet’s instigation.
When Lilyana felt desperate, she received a message from Branden.
“Marriage cannot be avoided, I can take responsibility and marry you. See you at the city hall.”
She was overjoyed, standing outside the city hall with her ID card, foolishly getting soaked in the rain, waiting for a whole day, but he never showed up.
She had a high fever for a day and night, and the next day, she received a call from Braxton.
“Lilyana, I heard that you waited for Branden for a whole day and night. You’re so desperate to get married! Here’s the deal, as long as you find the pair of rings I buried in the garden, I will marry
you,”
Lilyana believed again and searched for a whole day, turning the garden upside down. Breaking her nails, only to find out that he had also deceived her.
On the third day, Deven invited her to watch meteor showers on the mountain again. However, as soon as she climbed up, he made an excuse and left her alone on the mountaintop, taking away all the means of transportation.
She came back all bruised and battered, ran to find them, but heard them say,
“Just playing around with her, how could I possibly want to marry her? She intentionally caused Violet to get caught in the rain and got injured. It was just a way to get back for Violet.”
Upon hearing these words, Lilyana became completely disheartened.
She walked home in the rain, thinking all night long, and finally figured it out.
Marriage cannot be canceled, but the marriage partner can be changed!
Now, she finally doesn’t have to compromise with them anymore.
Just as she arrived home, she heard footsteps outside the door.
Branden stormed in with a dark expression on his face and said, “Lilyana, I have told you many times that I don’t want to marry you. Why are you forcing me into marriage? You even came to our house to discuss the wedding! Are you so desperate to get married?”
Braxton followed closely behind, his cold eyes filled with impatience, his tone indifferent and

heartless. “I think I’ve told you countless times, that the person I like is Violet. What kind of shameless person are you, without any shame or dignity?”
