Chapter 23
He spoke with conviction, causing Belen to waver and hesitate before speaking.
“She said she had tampered with the condom, and insisted that the child must be yours. She even confidently claimed that we could wait until the child was born to do a paternity test.”
Upon hearing this sentence, Donte completely fell apart.
He knew that with Phoebe’s personality, if she didn’t have complete certainty, she would never hide the fact of being pregnant and then seek an opportunity to contact his parents.
She had been tormented by Gavin for almost two months, and this was her only chance to escape.
A dispute arose between Donte and the Leblanc elderly couple around this child.
He bit and killed this child who was not his own, insisting on getting rid of it.
Adrien, who has gone through this series of events, is extremely disappointed and insists on
keeping the child, waiting to have a paternity test after it is born.
With the support of the Leblanc family spokesperson, Phoebe, who had endured two months of
inhumane torture, finally found liberation.
Although unable to return to the Leblanc family, at least I ended up in the presidential suite of the hospital, where my needs for clothing, food, and shelter were taken care of.
Donte couldn’t accept the result, but he couldn’t resist his parents either, so he could only vent his anger towards his siblings.
Just at the moment of his greatest agony, news of Maeve suddenly reached him.
A brother within the circle, who was studying in Mardale, mentioned at the drinking table that he
saw someone at school who looked a lot like Maeve.
This news lifted Donte’s spirits entirely.
He directly booked a ticket to Mardale and got up to leave.
A few brothers, however, grabbed hold of him and poured a bucket of cold water on him.
“Donte, the person has been found and can’t escape. The most urgent matter now is the child! If this matter is not resolved, even if Maeve forgives you, she will never come back to you once she
knows about the child!”
A single sentence startled the person in the dream.
Donte’s just relaxed heart tightened up again.

He suppressed the wild joy in his heart and forced himself to calm down.
A few brothers were giving him ideas on the side.
He listened to them, but none of them were useful. In the end, he decided to solve it himself.
Donte went straight to the hospital.
The security guard at the entrance thought he was causing trouble and directly blocked him at the
door.
He called Belen and expressed his willingness to wait for a few months for a paternity test. After
that, she immediately let him in.
With a bang, the tightly closed door was pushed open.
Phoebe lifted her head at the sound and, upon seeing the person approaching, the smile on her face
was instantly replaced by fear.
She stood up unsteadily, stumbling backwards, her voice trembling.
“What are you doing here? Child, the child is really yours!”
Seeing this face that looked like a consumptive ghost, Donte had lost all interest.
He slowly walked up to her and pushed her into the corner.
With each step he took, the excitement in his heart grew deeper.
It seemed as if he was approaching not Phoebe, but Maeve, who was far away.
“The child is mine, not mine, but now it doesn’t matter anymore. Because she is about to bid
farewell to this world. Phoebe, you have schemed so much, just to take my place, right?”
“But I can tell you clearly today that unless I die, you will never have this opportunity in your
lifetime!”
As she watched him approach step by step, Phoebe felt as if the nightmare had descended once
again.
She opened her phone while crying, wanting to call the Leblanc family.
Before the dial button could be pressed, Donte snatched the phone and threw it out of the window.
A sharp cry rang through the entire room.
Donte remembered the security guard outside the door, and quickly covered her mouth, dragging
her into the inner room and slamming the door shut.
