He shook his head. “No, it’s about your father’s company. It’s worse than we thought. Stefan’s business is in serious debt, and it’s not just a small setback. We’re 

talking about a financial collapse.” 

For a moment, I couldn’t speak. The words hung in the air between us, heavy and impossible to ignore. My father’s business had always been strong, or at least that’s what I had believed. The idea that it could be on the verge of collapse was 

something I hadn’t even considered. 

“What are we going to do?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. 

Carlos sighed, running a hand through his hair. “We’ll figure it out. But you need to be prepared, Doris. Stefan’s company is under great financial debt.” 

A few years ago, Stefan’s company was in serious trouble. The whispers about his failing business spread through our circles, and it was hard to ignore. He had made some terrible decisions 

and now he was borrowing money from anyone who would lend it to him, trying to keep his company afloat. Each loan was a temporary fix, but it only delayed the inevitable collapse. 

Stefan had always been a charismatic leader, the kind of person who could charm investors and clients alike with his engaging personality and persuasive speeches. During this chaotic time, Sienna returned to Nathan’s life. Nathan, wanting to help his friend, took out a large sum of money for Stefan, thinking it would alleviate his problems. I knew he thought he was doing the right thing, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was a bad idea. 

My heart sank as I considered how Nathan had thrown himself into this mess. I had hoped it would help Stefan, but I also feared it would draw Nathan into a deeper mess. The detectives discovered something shocking: Stefan had used Nathan’s money to bail Sienna out of jail. Sienna was now living in Nathan’s house with Asher, and Nathan was struggling to provide a stable home for Asher. He hadn’t agreed to marry Sienna yet, which only added to the confusion. Sitting at my kitchen table, I flipped through the detective’s file, searching for answers. The papers were filled with evidence, and as I turned the last few pages, a photograph caught my eye, sending a chill down my spine.
