Chapter 92
We headed to the ski resort. The mountain air felt crisp and cool. Each breath was fresh and made me feel alive. The view was amazing. The snow covered everything like a soft blanket. It sparkled in the bright sun, looking like tiny diamonds all around us.
Cyrus pulled at my sleeve, eager to go. His face was full of joy. I couldn’t wait to enjoy this adventure with him. It was the perfect start to our day.]
At the resort, a professional instructor greeted us with a big smile. “You must be Cyrus! Are you ready for your training session?” he asked.]]
Cyrus nodded eagerly, bouncing on his toes. “Yes! I can’t wait to learn!“]
“Great! Follow me, and we’ll get started,” the instructor said, gesturing for Cyrus to join him.[]
I watched as they walked away, my heart swelling with pride. “Have fun, buddy!” I called after him.
Cyrus turned around, his eyes sparkling. “I will, Mom! I’m going to learn so much!”
The instructor chuckled. “That’s the spirit! Let’s see what you can do!“]
They disappeared into the training area. This left Carlos and me standing together, a bit awkwardly at first. Then I noticed the snow and an idea popped into my head.]
“Hey, want to build a snowman?” I asked Carlos, half–expecting him to find it boring.
To my surprise, he smiled and nodded. “Why not?“[]
I felt a rush of excitement as we started gathering snow, shaping it into a snowman. As we worked, memories from my childhood began to surface.]
I shared them with Carlos, recalling how, when I was little, there was a particularly cold winter. It snowed a lot, and my family–my mum, dad, Sienna, Nathan, and I–made snowmen together in the yard. []
“It was such a happy time,” I said, my voice a bit shaky. “We were all together, laughing and enjoying the snow.

I remembered the way my dad’s laughter echoed through the yard as he rolled the big snowball for the snowman’s body. Sienna and Nathan were always trying to outdo each other, making the biggest snowman they could.
I could almost feel the soft flakes falling on my cheeks and hear the crunch of snow under our boots. “We had so much fun,” I continued, feeling warmth spread in my chest. “We were all so carefree then.” Those memories felt like a warm blanket on a cold day, a reminder of the love and joy we shared as a family.
Carlos listened intently as I spoke, and I felt a wave of nostalgia hit me. The memories made me a little emotional. Carlos, sensing my feelings, said, “You know, I can arrange for your dad to be protected from the Dark Spectre Pack.“]
I shook my head. “No, he’s an adult. It’s his choice to be involved with them. He needs to make his own decisions, even if they come with risks“]
Carlos fell silent, understanding my point. The moment hung heavy between us. Then, on a whim, I scooped up a handful of snow and threw it at him.]

Carlos dodged it with his super–fast reflexes, smirking. “Really?” he said, amusement dancing in his eyes.]
“Yep!” I laughed, feeling lighter.]
[] That simple act sparked a playful snowball fight between us. We chased each other, tossing snow and laughing like kids.
Just when I was about to slip on a slope, Carlos transformed into his wolf form and caught me, cushioning my fall with his soft, golden fur. I had never seen his wolf before, and I was struck by its beauty.]
I stood up quickly, brushing the snow off. “I’m so sorry!” I exclaimed, feeling guilty.]
Carlos’s wolf nodded, understanding, but instead of staying, it turned and walked away, leaving me beside the snowman that had been knocked down in the process.]
