Seeing that she had truly made up her mind, Eleanor stopped trying to persuade her.

Aria walked out of the old lady’s meditation room, and at the corner of the hallway, she ran into Selena.

Aria wanted to just ignore her, but Selena deliberately blocked her path with a self–righteous attitude. “Aria, did you go complaining to Grandma again! You know damn well my cousin doesn’t like you, but you still won’t let go. Are you some kind of freak? Do you really enjoy being a total simp?”

Aria walked past Selena without another glance.

Selena stared in astonishment at her departing figure. Had she been possessed by something or what?

Aria returned to Moonrise Apartments, exited her car, and called Prof. Morrison to inform him that Eleanor had agreed to give them the project.

Prof. Morrison was delighted. “Excellent! I’ll have someone contact her tomorrow. Aria, this project was Eleanor’s gift to you specifically. When you transfer to Crescent Moon Medical Center, I’ll hand the project over to you completely.”

Aria was genuinely surprised. “Thank you, Professor.”

After ending the call, she looked up and, with the help of the building’s shadow, finally saw the face of the man standing outside smoking.

Recalling what had happened the previous night, she pressed her lips together and walked straight past him as if he didn’t

exist.

Kane lifted his gaze. “What did you tell Grandmother?”

She paused momentarily but didn’t look back. “Nothing important.”

Entering the elevator, Kane followed closely behind. Aria suddenly turned around, unaware he was so clo, nearly bumping

into his broad chest.

She instinctively stepped back.

Kane said nothing more, reaching out to press the elevator button for their floor.
