Chapter 35: Not A Guest
JULIA
I stared at the pile of money on the table, feeling my annoyance return. I didn’t even take the one on the bedside table! I merely stayed because Susan had prepared breakfast, and I didn’t want to be disrespectful.
“Sir Evander,” Susan said in a warning tone.
Evan pursed his lips and ran his fingers through his hair. “Told you to escort her out when she wakes up. Why is she still here?”
Susan sighed. “It’s because I prepared enough breakfast. You can’t let your guest leave with an empty stomach.” “She’s not a guest,” he deadpanned. “She’s merely here because she didn’t want to say where she lived.” Susan appeared stressed. “Still, you cannot throw money like that to a person.”
Evan didn’t say anything and typed something on his phone
“Fine,” he said. “I already called Rui. I’ll have him take her home.”
Susan was about to respond when the door flung open, revealing an unfamiliar person.
“Sir,” he said, bowing at Evan. “Are you ready to head to work?”
Evan nodded and grabbed his keys from the table before tossing them to where he was. Rui caught it with ease, looking at the key in confusion. “I already have the keys, sir,” he said.
Evan took another set of keys. My eyes widened as I saw the amount inside the jar. Just how many cars did he have? He only had two during our relationship!
“I’ll be driving on my own,” Evan said. “You’ll be taking her,” he added, glancing toward my way.
It was only then that Rui actually felt my presence. He looked afraid at first, seemingly shaking in his shoes. “A woman,” he muttered, but I heard it clearly.
“I can go home on my own,” I insisted, grabbing Evan’s attention. It was then that the dream I had suddenly resurfaced, making my face feel warm. However, I quickly pushed it in the back of my mind.
Susan went next to me and placed her hands on my shoulder. “I suggest you go with Rui as it is much safer. This place is far from public transportation.”
I was about to argue, but seeing the concerned look on her face, I felt like I had no choice but to agree.
“Okay,” I muttered
I heard Rui take a sharp breath from behind me.
Meanwhile, Evan clicked his tongue. “I’m going,” he said.
I sighed. “Wait, Evan…”
He didn’t even turn around. He slamined the door of the house, leaving Rui appearing like a pale ghost and Miss Susan with a disappointed expression.

the one his dad had bought for him but the one he had saved up for while working as a junior intern.
“This way, ma’am,” he said, opening the door for me.
I couldn’t help but smile. Well, he seemed sweet. Did he work for Evan?
“Thank you,” I said with sincerity. He froze for a moment as he looked at my smile, but he quickly got over it and went to the driver’s seat.
With that, he turned on the engine and started driving.
“Where to, ma’am?” he asked.
I thought about saying my address, especially since it would be more convenient. However, knowing that this guy was affiliated with Evan, I decided to go with the nearest bus stop.
“Just right by Sunshine Alley,” I said.
Rui frowned. “Sunshine Alley,” he muttered. “It’s where Miss Eleanor works.”
“Umm, is that where you live?” he couldn’t help but ask.
I merely chuckled. “I would appreciate it if you left me there,” I said, dodging his question.
Fortunately, he didn’t ask another question. However, I had another problem to face.
My phone rang, showing the caller ID–‘My Baby.”
“Crap,” I muttered, my eyes widening.
I quickly answered the call and placed the phone over my ear. I heard the sound of crying and sniffing, causing an ache inside my chest. It was even much worse than when Evan threw his

“Baby,” I said. That seemed to capture Rui’s attention. However, I was too focused on my son to even take notice of him.
“M–mom,” he stammered.
As I’ve mentioned before, Andy was quite mature for his age, so he didn’t cry so often. Hearing him like this felt like a heartbreak
“Where are you?” he asked. “We couldn’t call you. You didn’t come home. Are you okay, Mommy?”
I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair, feeling my throat close up.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered. “I’m okay. I’ll be home soon, alright?”
“Really?” he asked, sniffing once more.
Just then, I heard Sarah’s voice through the speakers.
“Oh gosh,” she exasperated said. “Did she finally answer?”
“Julia, hello?” she said in a frantic voice.
“Yeah, it’s me,” I responded.
“Oh, thank goodness!” Sarah exclaimed. “I thought you were dead.”
“You didn’t go to work?” Lasked.
“How can you even ask that question at this moment?” she said in an exasperated tone. “Of course, I didn’t go to
