Tessa was so shocked that she was left speechless.
She had no idea that the Jacobson family had such a scandal in their history. She had never even heard a whisper about it. They seemed to have kept it completely under wraps.
Stephen continued, "Speaking of which, that mistress was probably my dad's true love. But unfortunately, they were never meant to be together.
"My grandma really despised immoral homewreckers. As for my grandpa, he was a man of integrity. There was no way he'd ever allow a mistress to join our family and ruin our reputation.
"In the beginning, my dad had everyone fooled. They all thought he had taken his mistress for an abortion and cut ties with her for good.
"But when I was five or six, my mom discovered the truth and fought with him. At the time, they were on the verge of divorce. It got so bad that both sides of the family had to step in. After all, their marriage wasn't just about the two of them; it was tied to the interests of both the Jameson and Jacobson families.
"In the end, they didn't get divorced. The pressure from both families forced my dad to break things off with his mistress.
"But even then, my mom could never really get past it. When I was a kid, they would fight all the time about that mistress and her son.
"Later, we were told that the mistress had passed away. That's when my dad tried to bring her son back and officially acknowledge him as his own.
"But my grandparents never approved. In the end, nothing came of it. After feeling down for a while, my dad eventually refocused on the family."
Tessa was even more shocked now.
Caleb had always seemed like such a gentleman—kind, polite, and humble. Tessa never would've guessed he was the type of man who would disregard his family and cheat on his wife.
Sophia was such a gentle woman. The thought of her almost jumping off the building made Tessa feel a mix of sympathy and fear.
If Sophia had really gone through with it, Stephen would've lost his mom. If Caleb's mistress really married into the Jacobson family with her son, Stephen's life would've been a nightmare too.

Whoa! Hahahahahaha! Go, Sophia! Burn, stupid Rowena! Lol...
Sooo~ Chapters 310-318 were just a repeat of Jacqueline’s punishment, official expulsion from the Jacobson family, and arrest. With few changes since Tessa and Stephen are not together this time. So Tessa didn’t witness how Jacqueline was tortured at Stephen’s base, though at least Tessa was still called over and witnessed how Stephen officially expelled Jacqueline from the Jacobson family and how Stephen’s subordinate made Jacqueline grovel in front of Tessa. Lol. I hope Jacqueline’s really out of the story now....
Also a lot of chapters were missing here. I went back to the application where it was originally published that’s why i know that this site is not reliable...
Fucked up book! Seems like the authors were not talking to each other. LOL. Yes authors, because of the inconsistencies....
The story went downhill after pg200 1. Why is Jacqueline back… she was expelled from the family already 2. There was no reason for Rowena to be mad at Tessa 3. The Jacobson already knows that Stephen wants to get back witb Tessa after they deal with James, so why is Rowena pushing hard? LOL 4. The family also knows that Stephen and Nancy have some sort of deal. The story was okay from page 1-199, but clearly it’s a thumbs down. I can deal with grammatical errors, but story errors is just different now....
This is funny! Jacqueline was also the culprit why James knew that nancy was Stephen's cousin. So, really, what happened when steohen tortured jacqueline hahah...
I wonder how many authors does this book have? Suddenly jacqueline was back and continue to bad mouth tessa. And was stunned that tessa knows her feelings about stephen. And then rowena was freaking mad at tessa too; because there werw multiple instances that tessa sharp-tongued her. 🤣...
What is wrong with the story flow? At chapter 160-164 there’s this whole thing about Stephen revealing in front of all the Jacobsons family members about Jacqueline’s inappropriate feelings towards him and her involvement in murder. There’s even this “Just like that, Jacqueline was officially expelled from the Jacobson family. Stephen then promptly handed her to the authorities.” So I was already glad the bitch is out of the picture. And then suddenly at chapter 236, Jacqueline appears again like nothing happened, still being the adoptive daughter of the Jacobson family and the family being unaware of her feelings for Stephen. Seriously? Doesn’t make sense anymore....
The latest update is just a repetition of the previous chapters...
I don’t like that Stephen is dropping Tessa. They could work together to go after James. But if this happens then I’ll stop reading....
