Caleb and Sophia became visibly alarmed, fearing that Rowena might suffer from a heart attack.
Caleb hastily intervened, stopping Stephen from spilling the beans. "Stephen, that's enough." Then, he ordered one of the staff members, "Please take my mother to her room."
Sophia had only heard about Jacqueline's misdeeds, including her ties with Caleb's illegitimate son, James. However, talk of Jacqueline loving Stephen romantically and her committing murder was news to her too.
Sophia felt all the color drain from her face at the reveal as she felt her alarm clog her throat.
What was going on here? Did Jacqueline harbor such inappropriate feelings for Stephen?
A maid stepped forward to support Rowena, saying, "Mrs. Jacobson Senior, please allow me to escort you to your room upstairs."
"Leave me be. I'm fine," Rowena protested. Then, she turned to Stephen and demanded, "Stephen, explain yourself. What do you mean Jacqueline covets you? And what do you mean when you say she's committed murder?"
Sophia looked at Jacqueline incredulously before asking sharply, "What's going on here?"
Jacqueline had turned ashen as she shook uncontrollably. Her bloodless lips parted, and she stammered, "I-I…"
Stephen's expression remained impassive as he said dispassionately, "Exactly as it sounds."
Frankly, Tesa didn't expect Stephen to expose Jacqueline's feelings for him before the entire family.
Rowena looked visibly distressed as she clutched her chest. She looked at Jacqueline with utmost disappointment in her eyes. "Did you truly harbor such unspeakable thoughts about your brother? About Stephen? Did you really commit murder? Y-You…"
Jacqueline desperately wanted to deny all those accusations, but she couldn't.
She couldn't bring herself to say that she didn't love Stephen, nor could she lie about the fact that there was blood on her ledger.
Sophia could only glare at Jacqueline in the face of her self-damning silence. She was so furious that she couldn't even string her whirling thoughts together, let alone form a coherent sentence.
Caleb sighed heavily and finally said, "Stephen, let's table this discussion for now. You know your grandmother's health is frail. Let's not upset her further."
"Apologize to Tess." Stephen was clearly getting impatient as his gaze turned colder.
"No! I won't! I refuse! Why should I apologize to Tessa? I did nothing wrong!" Jacqueline screamed hoarsely as tears streamed down her face. It was obvious that she had absolutely no desire to apologize.
Her face was streaked with tears as she cried out in anguish, casting her dignity aside. " Why? Why can't I love you? We grew up together and are not at all related! Why can't you see me as a woman? How am I in the wrong for loving you? Why is it wrong for me to want to be with you forever?"

Sooo~ Chapters 310-318 were just a repeat of Jacqueline’s punishment, official expulsion from the Jacobson family, and arrest. With few changes since Tessa and Stephen are not together this time. So Tessa didn’t witness how Jacqueline was tortured at Stephen’s base, though at least Tessa was still called over and witnessed how Stephen officially expelled Jacqueline from the Jacobson family and how Stephen’s subordinate made Jacqueline grovel in front of Tessa. Lol. I hope Jacqueline’s really out of the story now....
Also a lot of chapters were missing here. I went back to the application where it was originally published that’s why i know that this site is not reliable...
Fucked up book! Seems like the authors were not talking to each other. LOL. Yes authors, because of the inconsistencies....
The story went downhill after pg200 1. Why is Jacqueline back… she was expelled from the family already 2. There was no reason for Rowena to be mad at Tessa 3. The Jacobson already knows that Stephen wants to get back witb Tessa after they deal with James, so why is Rowena pushing hard? LOL 4. The family also knows that Stephen and Nancy have some sort of deal. The story was okay from page 1-199, but clearly it’s a thumbs down. I can deal with grammatical errors, but story errors is just different now....
This is funny! Jacqueline was also the culprit why James knew that nancy was Stephen's cousin. So, really, what happened when steohen tortured jacqueline hahah...
I wonder how many authors does this book have? Suddenly jacqueline was back and continue to bad mouth tessa. And was stunned that tessa knows her feelings about stephen. And then rowena was freaking mad at tessa too; because there werw multiple instances that tessa sharp-tongued her. 🤣...
What is wrong with the story flow? At chapter 160-164 there’s this whole thing about Stephen revealing in front of all the Jacobsons family members about Jacqueline’s inappropriate feelings towards him and her involvement in murder. There’s even this “Just like that, Jacqueline was officially expelled from the Jacobson family. Stephen then promptly handed her to the authorities.” So I was already glad the bitch is out of the picture. And then suddenly at chapter 236, Jacqueline appears again like nothing happened, still being the adoptive daughter of the Jacobson family and the family being unaware of her feelings for Stephen. Seriously? Doesn’t make sense anymore....
The latest update is just a repetition of the previous chapters...
I don’t like that Stephen is dropping Tessa. They could work together to go after James. But if this happens then I’ll stop reading....
Whats wrong with the typing?? There a lot of weird words...
