It had been barely 30 minutes since Tessa had signed a deal with Stephen when Everbright Law Group received a major investment.
Fiona Lowell from the finance department nearly fainted when she counted all the zeroes. She immediately ran to Tessa's office and hollered, "Ms. Yates, the law firm has received a total of 80 million dollars of funds!"
Fiona was so astounded by their luck that her eyes were as wide as saucers. Finally, she muttered disbelievingly, "What's going on? Am I dreaming?"
"I've just signed a major deal with Jacobson Corporation. This is the deposit. We'll be paid in full once all the cases are closed," Tessa said calmly.
"What? D-Did you just say that this is just the deposit? There's more? You're not pulling my leg?" Fiona looked utterly flabbergasted.
"That's right." Tessa grinned, her eyes shining with joy. "Dinner this Friday is on me."
"Yes!" Fiona skipped away to her office happily.
Fiona had just left when Lester came knocking.
"I heard the firm just sealed a massive deal? And it's one with Jacobson Corporation?" Lester asked.
Tessa replied, "Yes. I'll assign a few cases to your team in a bit."
Lester looked a little uneasy at their sudden fortune. "Mr. Jacobson truly is a generous man. Since the deposit is 80 million dollars… What's the total?"
"This much." Tessa wriggled two fingers in the air. Lester would've assumed it was a peace sign if he didn't know any better.
However, what it really meant was the total the law firm would be receiving in the end—200 million dollars.
Lester clicked his tongue before saying in jest, "I guess we could all retire once we close their cases."
"Where's your ambition, Mr. Cooper?" Tessa shot him an amused look before continuing, "My goal is to make Everbright Law Group into Rivertown's best law firm.
"Even Shelton Law Firm couldn't make 200 million a year in legal fees," Lester said with a laugh. Then, he added, "We've already surpassed them by a mile in terms of income. The only thing holding us back now is our numbers and the fact that we're new to the business."
"Don't worry. People will know who we are once we complete Jacobson Corporation's cases. We can do it!" Tessa patted Lester's shoulder and encouraged him, saying, "I believe in you, partner."
Lester huffed in amusement before commenting, "We'll have to expand the firm."
Tessa replied confidently, "Of course. I've already asked HR to speed up the hiring process concerning lawyers and assistants. We'll also have to fine tune some of our internal policies to keep up with the firm's development."
Tessa then assigned several Jacobson Corporation cases to the legal teams working in her firm. She also tagged everyone in the group chat, announcing that she'd be treating the entire firm to dinner on Friday.
Finally, she encouraged her employees to work hard, promising a hefty amount of bonuses once Jacobson Corporation's cases were all settled.
Everyone was overjoyed and returned to their work with renewed vigor, eager to see this through.
The entire firm was buzzing with joy and excitement.

Sooo~ Chapters 310-318 were just a repeat of Jacqueline’s punishment, official expulsion from the Jacobson family, and arrest. With few changes since Tessa and Stephen are not together this time. So Tessa didn’t witness how Jacqueline was tortured at Stephen’s base, though at least Tessa was still called over and witnessed how Stephen officially expelled Jacqueline from the Jacobson family and how Stephen’s subordinate made Jacqueline grovel in front of Tessa. Lol. I hope Jacqueline’s really out of the story now....
Also a lot of chapters were missing here. I went back to the application where it was originally published that’s why i know that this site is not reliable...
Fucked up book! Seems like the authors were not talking to each other. LOL. Yes authors, because of the inconsistencies....
The story went downhill after pg200 1. Why is Jacqueline back… she was expelled from the family already 2. There was no reason for Rowena to be mad at Tessa 3. The Jacobson already knows that Stephen wants to get back witb Tessa after they deal with James, so why is Rowena pushing hard? LOL 4. The family also knows that Stephen and Nancy have some sort of deal. The story was okay from page 1-199, but clearly it’s a thumbs down. I can deal with grammatical errors, but story errors is just different now....
This is funny! Jacqueline was also the culprit why James knew that nancy was Stephen's cousin. So, really, what happened when steohen tortured jacqueline hahah...
I wonder how many authors does this book have? Suddenly jacqueline was back and continue to bad mouth tessa. And was stunned that tessa knows her feelings about stephen. And then rowena was freaking mad at tessa too; because there werw multiple instances that tessa sharp-tongued her. 🤣...
What is wrong with the story flow? At chapter 160-164 there’s this whole thing about Stephen revealing in front of all the Jacobsons family members about Jacqueline’s inappropriate feelings towards him and her involvement in murder. There’s even this “Just like that, Jacqueline was officially expelled from the Jacobson family. Stephen then promptly handed her to the authorities.” So I was already glad the bitch is out of the picture. And then suddenly at chapter 236, Jacqueline appears again like nothing happened, still being the adoptive daughter of the Jacobson family and the family being unaware of her feelings for Stephen. Seriously? Doesn’t make sense anymore....
The latest update is just a repetition of the previous chapters...
I don’t like that Stephen is dropping Tessa. They could work together to go after James. But if this happens then I’ll stop reading....
Whats wrong with the typing?? There a lot of weird words...
