"It's right there!" Tessa instinctively turned her head around and pointed toward the shredder, causing her lips to brush against Stephen's.
The second their lips touched, she immediately shot to her feet. "Stephen!"
He had purposely inched closer toward her just now, causing their lips to brush up against each other.
Tessa was slightly enraged as she exclaimed, "Can you stop playing around here? I'm busy, and I don't have time for your nonsense."
Seeing that Tessa was truly pissed, Stephen quickly toned his behavior down a notch and picked up the stack of papers. Then, he gently coaxed, "Ms. Yates, don't be mad. I really didn't see the shredder just now."
"You're lying!" Tessa's face was flushed red, and her voice had raised a few octaves.
Stephen walked up to the shredder and began placing a few pieces of paper inside. "Don't be mad, Tess. Why don't I treat you to dinner to make up for things? We can go to your favourite barbecue restaurant."
"I don't want to!"
At that moment, someone knocked on her door.
Tessa took two deep breaths and calmed herself down before she said, "Come in."
It was Lester knocking.
He was dressed in a suit, and behind his gold-rimmed glasses, there was amusement in his eyes. "Since when had Mr. Jacobson started doing the odd jobs that our assistants would usually handle?"
Tessa was not in the mood to joke around, and her expression was dark as she said unhappily, "Some people just have too much time on their hands."
Sensing that she was in a bad mood, Lester paused and collected himself. Concerned, he asked, "What's wrong? Did something upset you?"
Before Tessa could speak, Stephen cut in, "She's currently busy, and you're interrupting her work. How can she possibly be happy about that?"
Once again, Tessa was at a loss for words.
Lester's expression fell before he asked, "Should I go, then?"
"Go on, now." Stephen waved his hand, trying to dismiss him.

Sooo~ Chapters 310-318 were just a repeat of Jacqueline’s punishment, official expulsion from the Jacobson family, and arrest. With few changes since Tessa and Stephen are not together this time. So Tessa didn’t witness how Jacqueline was tortured at Stephen’s base, though at least Tessa was still called over and witnessed how Stephen officially expelled Jacqueline from the Jacobson family and how Stephen’s subordinate made Jacqueline grovel in front of Tessa. Lol. I hope Jacqueline’s really out of the story now....
Also a lot of chapters were missing here. I went back to the application where it was originally published that’s why i know that this site is not reliable...
Fucked up book! Seems like the authors were not talking to each other. LOL. Yes authors, because of the inconsistencies....
The story went downhill after pg200 1. Why is Jacqueline back… she was expelled from the family already 2. There was no reason for Rowena to be mad at Tessa 3. The Jacobson already knows that Stephen wants to get back witb Tessa after they deal with James, so why is Rowena pushing hard? LOL 4. The family also knows that Stephen and Nancy have some sort of deal. The story was okay from page 1-199, but clearly it’s a thumbs down. I can deal with grammatical errors, but story errors is just different now....
This is funny! Jacqueline was also the culprit why James knew that nancy was Stephen's cousin. So, really, what happened when steohen tortured jacqueline hahah...
I wonder how many authors does this book have? Suddenly jacqueline was back and continue to bad mouth tessa. And was stunned that tessa knows her feelings about stephen. And then rowena was freaking mad at tessa too; because there werw multiple instances that tessa sharp-tongued her. 🤣...
What is wrong with the story flow? At chapter 160-164 there’s this whole thing about Stephen revealing in front of all the Jacobsons family members about Jacqueline’s inappropriate feelings towards him and her involvement in murder. There’s even this “Just like that, Jacqueline was officially expelled from the Jacobson family. Stephen then promptly handed her to the authorities.” So I was already glad the bitch is out of the picture. And then suddenly at chapter 236, Jacqueline appears again like nothing happened, still being the adoptive daughter of the Jacobson family and the family being unaware of her feelings for Stephen. Seriously? Doesn’t make sense anymore....
The latest update is just a repetition of the previous chapters...
I don’t like that Stephen is dropping Tessa. They could work together to go after James. But if this happens then I’ll stop reading....
