Chapter 343
“I think you should too. Also, you should probably stop taking missions from the Assassins Market and stick to your job at the company,” Kingsley advised with a chuckle. “I can’t believe they are labeling you as a measly tier two assassin. They are letting a talent like you go to waste! You’re heaps better than that, and you deserve better than having to take odd jobs.”
He was only saying this because he was worried about Serena’s safety. He didn’t like that she had to risk herself just to fulfill tasks from the Assassins Market.
However, after hearing what he said, Serena countered in astonishment, “How did you know I was a tier two assassin? Have you been to the company?”
“There was a guy from the company—David, who took on a mission from the Assassins Market, but he slipped up and hurt Reene by mistake.” Kingsley saw no point in hiding this fact, so he went on to say, “When I interrogated him, he told me he partnered up with you once and that your alias was Black Turtle. He mentioned you were both tier two assassins.”
Serena was shocked when she heard this. “What? Reene’s hurt?” she asked incredulously. Then, she added, “I’ll go back to Cleapolis to see her right away, Kingsley. You take care in the meantime!”
“Relax, Serena. She’s fine now; she’s already recovered,” he said as he pulled out his phone and typed out a text, then sent it. “Anyway, if you want to go back to dispose of Tyler, just give Lancer a call. I just texted you his number.”
Serena nodded anxiously and did not ask who Lancer was. All she wanted to do now was to get home and make sure Reene was alright. To her, it did not matter if Tyler was dead or alive, not while her sister was probably still nursing her wounds back home.
Upon seeing how restless Serena was, Kingsley did not waste time and immediately turned to Kevin, saying, “Captain Leonard, you’re heading back to Cleapolis now, aren’t you? I’m going to need you to give my sister a lift.”
“Yes, sir!” Kevin replied firmly. He looked at Serena and said respectfully, “Miss Langley, this way, please.”
Before following Kevin, Serena threw her arms around Kingsley and gave him a tight hug, then said, “Come straight home after you finish your business here, Kingsley, you hear me? I’ll be waiting for you at home.”
“I know, Serena. Don’t worry about me.”
After sending her off, Kingsley walked into the elevator, which took him to the Sunshine Casino on the lower-sixth level.
Presently, Leoric and his men were looting the place.
When he registered Kingsley’s arrival, he walked up to him and greeted respectfully, “Mr. Nicholson!”
Kingsley nodded in acknowledgment. “So, how’s everything going down here? Did you guys find anything valuable?”
“Mr. Nicholson, we really hit the jackpot this time! You won’t believe how much cash Xanxus had hidden here in Sunshine Casino! There must be millions!” Leoric’s face was flush with excitement. “It’s right there in the last secret vault. Come on, I’ll show you!”
Leoric led the way to Xanxus’ office, whereupon he opened the hidden room behind the bookshelf. There, they saw the secret vault that measured up to about forty square feet.
Leoric’s men were checking the valuables stored up in the vault when the door opened. At the sight of Kingsley, they quickly put down the items they were holding and greeted in reverence, “Mr. Nicholson.”
Nodding at them, Kingsley swept his gaze over the room. The forty square feet of the space was taken up by stack upon stack of bills, which was quite the sight to behold. Aside from the cash, there were also jewelry and antique vases. This was a treasure trove indeed!
The most shocking part of this discovery was the dozen or so guns propped up in one corner of the room, with crates of matching ammunition stacked up on the ground. The two boxes of explosives sent over by Tyler were here as well.
“This must be Xanxus’ prized nest,” Kingsley concluded with a humorless smile. “Now, all this belongs to you.”
These words struck Leoric like a lightning bolt. He stiffened, then gaped at Kingsley as his face turned red. He was hyperventilating as he asked, flabbergasted, “Are you serious, Mr. Nicholson? Do you mean… Are you saying you’re giving all this to the Jeanne Gang?”
“That’s not all, of course,” Kingsley drawled, waving his hand dismissively. “While Xanxus’ men have all been arrested, the consequences of their illegal activities have not affected Sunshine Casino, surprisingly. I’m in charge of it for the time being, but I’ve decided that I’m going to give the entire casino to Jeanne as my warmest regards.”
