Madison told Ryan exactly what Yanis had said earlier. After listening, Ryan was speechless and didn't know how to respond. After a brief silence, he reached out and held Madison's hand, whispering, "You just need to give her some time to accept everything. If needed, I'll talk to Martin and Zane. They might be of some help."
Seeing Ryan like this, Madison's tears started flowing even harder. To be honest, she hadn't fallen for Ryan when they first met. It was his wealth that attracted her. She strategically made Ryan notice her and fall in love with her, despite her family's objections, and eventually married him. Over time, true feelings did develop between them, and they had a happy family with their son, Ivan.
However, after giving birth to Ivan, Madison's emotions took a drastic turn. She became stubborn, possessive, and suffocating. Yet, Ryan never said a word about it. Over the years, he had been like a puppet, except for business matters where he stood firm. He let Madison have her way in everything else.
Although Madison was somewhat overbearing, she never meddled in Ryan's work. As Ivan grew older, Madison's fixation shifted to him, but she tried to restrain herself from interfering too much. She even considered having Yanis be with Ivan without knowing that Yanis was already married to Zane.
Madison had a special feeling about Yanis when they first met, something she couldn't put into words. At the time, she had no idea that Yanis was her own daughter. What she did back then, not just to Yanis, but to anyone, might have been unforgivable.
Madison couldn't deny that she had heard Ryan's words earlier. Yanis had been through a lot over the years, and this past year seemed to be slightly better for her. Madison was aware of that. During a certain period, Ivan had been concerned about Yanis' well-being.
After a brief silence, Madison looked at Ryan and softly asked, "Will she come to see me again?"
Ryan met Madison's gaze but couldn't give her a definite answer. He wasn't sure if his efforts to convince Martin, Olivia, or Zane to arrange a meeting would be successful. He had said what he did earlier just to do whatever little he could for Madison.
Seeing Ryan remain silent, Madison sighed and didn't speak further. Ryan sat by her bedside for a while, comforting her with a few words before leaving the room. After closing the door, he couldn't help but sigh again.
Things were not peaceful at the company either. Some shareholders were getting restless, feeling that Ryan was getting old and the company's affairs should be handed over to younger people. They were pressuring him to step down from his current position.
Ryan stood outside the master bedroom for a while before turning and going to his study. Ryan was not a frequent smoker, but today, he found himself smoking two cigarettes in a row in his study. After finishing, he picked up his phone and called Ivan.
A few days ago, when Ivan returned, Ryan wanted to talk to him alone about staying in Manches City. But at that moment, Ryan couldn't find the words to say. When the call connected, Ryan started, "Ivan."
From the other side, Ivan's voice came through, "Hey, Dad, is there something you need?"
Listening to Ivan's inquiry, Ryan couldn't help but tighten his grip on the phone. He didn't know when their conversations had become so formal and business-like. It seemed like they only spoke to each other about work matters. Ryan realized that the responsibility for this situation rested heavily on his shoulders.
"I... are you busy right now?" Ryan asked after a few seconds of hesitation.
Ivan responded, "Not really. If you have something to say, go ahead."
Ryan hesitated for a moment before asking, "Ivan, do you plan to stay in M Country for good?"
