Sandy loved hearing Brandon's comforting words the most.
So, in an exceptionally good mood, she chatted with Brandon late into the night before finally curling up in his arms to sleep.
After dawn, Nelson greeted Aunt Bruton and then left the Hawkins family.
"Ah Chu, do you think Nelson didn't take a liking to Sandy's sister?" Aunt Bruton glanced at Nelson's departing figure and turned to Maya, speaking in a hushed tone.
Maya was also curious, but she couldn't openly discuss such matters in front of Aunt Bruton. She replied softly, "They had a good chat yesterday. I'll ask later when it's more appropriate."
Aunt Bruton nodded. "If there really aren't any feelings, there's no need to force it. After all, they'll be spending their lives together."
Maya concurred, "I understand. You don't need to worry."
Aunt Bruton turned to Maya and asked, "By the way, have you checked on that girl from the Longman family? Is she feeling better?"
Brandon truthfully recounted the situation to Aunt Bruton. "There's no major harm done. We've clarified things."
Aunt Bruton was relieved after hearing Brandon's explanation. "That's good. After all, they've grown up together. It wouldn't be good if things got too ugly."
"I know, you don't need to worry."
Mother and son chatted for a while before the conversation shifted to Brandon and Sandy's wedding plans.
"I talked to Aunt Sandy. We'll stick to the original date. You should get everything you need ready early. Your big brother and I will handle the rest. While Sandy's not showing yet, let's get everything done. We can't make her feel neglected. After all, pregnant women tend to be more sensitive," Aunt Bruton considered every detail, covering all bases.
Brandon listened quietly, offering occasional nods.
"Uncle Brandon!"
Just as they were chatting, Lucas came running over, pouncing onto Brandon. "Where's Aunt Sandy? Hasn't she woken up yet?"
Brandon caught him, replying, "Aunt Sandy is still sleeping."
"Why hasn't Aunt Sandy woken up yet? I wanted to talk to her yesterday, but Mom said you and Aunt Sandy were busy," Lucas said.
Brandon looked at Lucas and asked in a hushed tone, "What did you want to talk to Aunt Sandy about?"
"It's a secret. I can't tell you, but I can tell Aunt Sandy," Lucas replied.
Brandon couldn't help but smile wryly. "How about you wait until you come back from school? Aunt Sandy stayed up quite late last night. Let her sleep a bit longer."
Lucas hesitated. "But I want to tell Aunt Sandy a secret."
Brandon thought for a moment. "How about this? I'll go upstairs and check. If she's awake, I'll call you up. Is that okay?"
Lucas nodded quickly. "Uncle Brandon, go quickly. I'll be waiting at the door."
With Lucas and Sandy urging him on, Brandon reluctantly turned and headed upstairs.
Upon entering the room, Sandy was sprawled on the bed, one arm dangling over the edge, and her legs askew. The blanket had slipped onto the floor.
