Yanis nodded and then turned to Aunt Gloria, who was standing by the door. She whispered, "Aunt Gloria, please go inside first."
Aunt Gloria nodded and curtsied, "Of course."
After Aunt Gloria entered the house, Yanis walked up to Ryan. "Have you had breakfast?" she asked.
Ryan replied, "Yes."
"Let's take a walk around," Yanis suggested.
When Ryan heard Yanis's words, he hesitated for a moment but then nodded. He followed Yanis as they walked side by side, seemingly both lost in thought and not eager to break the silence.
After walking for a while, Yanis spoke first, "Did Uncle Baxter contact Ivan?"
Ryan looked at Yanis's face when she asked this question. "He contacted Ivan yesterday," he responded.
Yesterday, when Ryan received Ivan's call, his initial thought was that Yanis had called Ivan to inform him about their meeting. However, he later found out that Ivan knew because he had arranged for someone to watch them, fearing that they might cause trouble for Yanis.
Ryan felt somewhat helpless, as he had never imagined his son would be this cautious around him, as though he were guarding against criminals.
"I told you that I would consider it. I will really think about it. You don't need to..." Yanis began.
"Yanis."
Ryan interrupted her before she could finish speaking. "Can you go see her today?"
Yanis's words got caught in her throat as she looked into Ryan's eyes, where she could see a glimmer of hope. She found it difficult to reject his request.
Time passed in silence, and Yanis finally pressed her lips together. "Maybe later, around noon, I'll go."
Relieved that Yanis agreed, Ryan let out a sigh. "Then we'll have lunch at home."
Yanis's mind was in turmoil, and she just managed to muster a response, "Sure."
Ryan smiled faintly. "She said she dreamed of leaving and wanted to see you again."
Yanis's initial intention to decline faded away upon meeting Ryan's expectant gaze. She remained silent for a moment before agreeing, "Okay, I'll go around noon."
Ryan's relief was evident as he replied, "Great, we'll have lunch together at home."
Yanis's thoughts were scattered at the moment. After Ryan left, she stood there for a while before turning back inside.
"Mrs. Lawrence, are you okay?" Aunt Alice approached, concerned about Yanis's expression.
Yanis changed her shoes and shook her head gently. "I'm fine, I'll go upstairs and rest for a bit."
Aunt Alice hesitated for a moment before dialing Zane's number. Upon receiving the call, Zane was just finishing a meeting.
"What's going on?" he asked.
"Mr. Lawrence, Mr. Baxter came to see Mrs. Lawrence again. She didn't look well when she came back. Shouldn't you give Mrs. Lawrence a call?" Aunt Alice spoke softly.
Zane listened to her and immediately responded, "I'll be back soon."
Considering Yanis's current situation, Zane was careful in everything he did. Before leaving home, he would instruct Aunt Gloria and Aunt Alice multiple times to take good care of Yanis. Therefore, if Yanis showed any signs of distress, Aunt Alice would call Zane to update him.
After all, they wouldn't be able to handle the responsibility if something happened to Yanis.
Back in the Lawrence Group building, in Zane's top-floor office.
