Chapter 1123: I Have Liked Mr. Lawrence

Because there were other people in the private room, Albi was told that Ruth had gone to the restroom, and the CEO's son had stepped out to take a phone call. Albi didn't think much of it. It was only after more than ten minutes had passed, and neither of them had returned, that he started to feel uneasy. He called Ruth's phone.

The phone was ringing inside the room, which convinced Albi that Ruth had indeed gone to the restroom and left her phone behind.

But the vacant seat next to him made Albi feel even more unsettled.

In an attempt to quell his unease, Albi went to the men's restroom, but he didn't find the CEO's son there.

When he managed to locate the man after much frustration, Ruth was disheveled, looking utterly disarrayed. Remarkably composed, she said, "Got bitten by a dog. I'm fine. Let's go back."

Albi was about to go and find help, but Ruth stopped him.

Seeing Ruth like that, Albi had no choice but to assist her back.

He later observed Ruth's behavior closely but saw that she wasn't affected by that incident, so he didn't think much of it afterward. However, he did eventually find the person responsible for Ruth's situation, cornered him, and gave him a good beating to provide Ruth with a sense of justice.

Upon hearing Albi's account, Zane furrowed his brows, "Why didn't you tell me back then?"

Albi coughed lightly, "At that time, you were taking care of Mrs. Lawrence, and there were other miscellaneous matters. So, I didn't get a chance to inform you."

Zane pinched the bridge of his nose, "Come to the hospital first."

Albi agreed, "Alright, I'll head over now."

After ending the call, Zane turned to Yanis, "How about I take you to eat something?"

Yanis shook her head, "I'm not hungry. Let's wait for her to come out."

Seeing Yanis insist, Zane messaged Albi to bring some food for Yanis when he came. It had been quite a while since she had eaten anything, and Zane was concerned about her well-being.

Albi arrived promptly, bringing some pastries that Zane often got for Yanis and a cup of warm milk tea. Given the circumstances, they had to make do with whatever was available.

Zane wanted to take Yanis back home, considering her health. However, Yanis insisted on waiting for Ruth to come out.

Despite several attempts to persuade her, Zane eventually agreed, accompanying her while they waited for Ruth to finish.

During this time, Albi also contacted Ruth's family. But when he relayed the situation, their response was cold. After explaining the situation to them, they simply said, "Since you're the one who got her into this mess, you'll be responsible for taking care of her. We don't have the time to come over." They hung up without even giving Albi a chance to reply.

Albi didn't even have the opportunity to deny anything.

After hanging up, Albi looked somewhat awkward as he turned to Zane, speaking softly, "It seems... her family doesn't have a good relationship with her."

While Albi had a good relationship with Ruth, he hadn't delved deep enough to learn about her family background or relationships. Thus, he was at a loss about what to do now.

Zane listened to Albi's explanation and didn't say anything further.

After spending around forty minutes in the examination room, Ruth's doctor finally emerged.

"Who's Ruth's family?" the doctor called out from the doorway.
