Chapter 1125: A Slap Can Be Loud

Yanis smiled, "Are you here for Ruth or because your young master got into legal trouble?"

Yanis had come to a point in the conversation where there was no need for beating around the bush. She asked directly.

At her words, Mr. Wheeler and Mrs. Wheeler seemed taken aback, clearly not expecting Yanis to be so straightforward.

Mrs. Wheeler hesitated, then whispered, "Mrs. Lawrence, we genuinely had no idea about all the heartless things that boy did outside. I only found out about the Ms. Walpole incident recently. Before that, we were completely in the dark."

Mrs. Wheeler paused and smiled at Yanis, "Mrs. Lawrence, I've met Ms. Walpole before, and my impression of her is very positive. I even told my husband before that if our son were to find a wife, she should be someone like Ms. Walpole. Yes, our son's actions were excessive, but young people are impulsive. He might have done it out of affection for Ms. Walpole..."

"Mrs. Wheeler."

Yanis didn't let Mrs. Wheeler finish her sentence and interrupted her, "I really don't understand why young people nowadays think that using cheap tricks is the way to show affection. Is bullying someone the most popular way to express love?"

As Yanis spoke, Mrs. Wheeler's expression shifted. She maintained her smile but her face turned slightly pale, and she responded, "Mrs. Lawrence, it's not that simple. There were many people involved, and if Ms. Walpole had no intentions, it wouldn't have escalated."

Yanis took a deep breath, "Mrs. Wheeler, are you sure it's not that simple?"

When Yanis met Mrs. Wheeler's gaze, the latter hesitated, and a slight unease crept into her thoughts.

Yanis continued, her tone cold, "If Mrs. Wheeler doesn't mind, I can demonstrate what it means for a slap to be loud."

Mrs. Wheeler's face changed rapidly, and she seemed lost for words.

Mr. Wheeler gave his wife a subtle glare and then turned his gaze to Yanis. He spoke with an air of warmth, but his words carried a subtle pressure, "Mrs. Lawrence, are you trying to take a stand for the employees of the Lawrence Group?"

Yanis chuckled at the remark, "Mr. Wheeler, you're taking this quite seriously. I'm just Zane's wife, and my concerns are limited to matters involving him. I've never interfered in company affairs, so Mr. Wheeler need not worry."

Pausing for a moment, Yanis continued, "But if I were to get involved, would Mr. Wheeler have any say?"

Yanis had some knowledge about Mr. Wheeler from Albi's side. It wasn't a great impression, but Yanis believed in fairness.

However, it seemed that Mr. Wheeler wasn't someone who valued fairness.

Thus, Yanis didn't hold a particularly favorable attitude toward Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler.

"So, Mrs. Lawrence, are you planning to get fully involved?" Mr. Wheeler attempted to probe.

Yanis was about to respond when the sound of the door opening came from the entrance.

Yanis glanced toward the door and then lowered her gaze, her voice quiet, "Mr. Wheeler, if someone takes an action, they must be prepared to bear the consequences. It's not right to cause harm and then claim it was unintentional. Even errant children know how to admit their mistakes, let alone your young master, who's an adult now. Shouldn't he be more mature than a child?"

After Yanis finished her words, Zane entered the room.

Mr. Wheeler's intended words got stuck in his throat upon Zane's arrival. Faced with Zane, he and his wife could only stand up and respectfully greet him.

Zane didn't immediately acknowledge them but instead turned to Yanis, asking, "Shall we go upstairs?"
